if you burn your skin its okay but if you melt the latex glove AND burn the latex into your skin thats the dangerous part so DONT WEAR LATEX GLOVES!!!!! whil doing this if you want to wear gloves choose leather
@FuRwHaLe wow. how would a gamer like you know much abt slide gloves???? slide gloves are expensive and you have to buy new ones everytime the plastic or material wears out.
Cheers for the video, I cant w8 to start making my slide gloves just procured 6 chopping boards from work and have blowtorch, gloves ect all on the way via online store. I have a landyachtz dh race. Sun is shining should be sliding by this afternoon! Gluesticks sound a smart idea too, will investigate.
@Krosstika1 melting it bonds the cutting board with the fibers from the gloves, i also like using hot glue sticks, melting them both truly bonds it, originals slide glove vid is really good, u should check it out
It's much easier if you get a pack of those glue sticks that you use for hot glue guns, then cut a few of them up into little discs. Place the discs on top of the glove in a small cluster in the center and hit it with a heat gun.
Much cheaper than buying an oxy or propane torch, safer and easier.... and will hold MUCH better.
My source: Brian Bishop, King of Slide. (And past experiences)
If you are gonna make these, do it right! Use a glove with a wrist stap that closes it tight around your wrist, and connect the pucks to the glove with heavy duty velcro, so you can replace them. Also make a large round puck for the palm, it makes it harder to catch edges while spining, and make smaller finger pucks so you can grab the rail of your board easier if you are sliding around corners when racing. I have tried it this way and they SUCK! i will post vids of my gloves to give you an idea
ye us latex is SOOO fucking heatproof lol hes worried about flat tarmac slicing deep enough into your wrist to sever veins but hes happy to use a latex glove to protect himself from blowtorch heated plastic....
What's the red stuff? He never says... Or i can't hear over the fan and his accent ^^ And you're suppose to heat it up and lay on a pair of gloves? Is that enough, doesn't it rip appart?
i love more the motorcycle gloves for sliding i make my gloves whit food chopper table , fox gloves and industrial velcro and belive me they fit and feel more confortable in your hand !!!! try it :)
I'd rather not put the glove on to press the puck against the glove after melting..I'd probs get another chopping board and put it on top of the gloves (puck side up) and then put a bit of weight on top or something. Would that work or..?
I made mine with gorilla glue and velcrow. Theyre still holding together after 3 months suprisingly but they wont last forever. I'm definitely going melt next time
your wheels dont need to be that hard i got sector nine 67mm 78a and i slid first time and there is no need to get a gas thing like that just get a stove and lite it up thats what i did except yours look like great quality gloves
ill just say good on u mate anyone into stuff like longboarding or street luge like u and myself are normally considered dumb yahoos. And unfortunately 2/3 of the time they r. With the great number of saftey precautions you gave out in the video on top of smartly thinking how easy it would be just to make the gloves yourself was vewry smart. It also saves about $40 at leaste. Ill go make my own pair now Cheers
BE CAREFUL OF MELTING PLASTIC, DO NOT GET IT ON YOUR SKIN! try shoe glue or some really strong glue, if your parents have a problem with you screwing around with a blow torch.
i like the chopping board in plastic for my slide material, but good to hear people experimenting. Different materials will give you less or more slide, i know the chopping board material is the way to go!
RAINSKATES are made in Alaska! i got some sent to Australia through some website i can't remember, but you'll be able to order them through i skateboard website.
ABEC 11 Strikers, are made by abec they are the big green wheels you see on the long board etc. downhill stuff. i'e got abec 11's on my loaded skateboard.
stingers are made by rainskates. these are wheels, you'll see them in a magazine called concrete wave 100% skateboarding. this magazine is good! alot of pool bowl riders use these "rainskates". You can get nice hard ones. and good sizes. the "yellow jackets" made by rainskates, do not slide as well as the "stingers", but both slide super well. My mate has yellow jackets on his board and i have stingers on my "Chris Dahl, RAYNE" board. This board is designed for slide skating.
i just got a 3/8" thick plastic cutting board from my local resturant supply store and some leather gloves TIG gloves are ok they are too thin for me tho. and melt the back and stick em on.
you can get really tight stuff for slide pucks from like extra snowboard/ski rail top cutoffs, i dont know what it is but it never wears out and theres tons of it on most mountains
I really recommend using velcro instead, and getting workmans gloves instead of gardening gloves. Use strong glue to attach the fuzzy side of velcro to the glove, with industrial str velcro no glue is necassary for the plastic pucks
Im going to get a Pintail witj paris 180 i think? With Orangatang 4pres. and abec bearings. I may change some things around who knows. the pintail though.
yeah i might do it again a bit slower, i'll put on an american accent how about that hahah,,...
dervish is sick, hard to ride at first but when you get it, its a really good cruising board, i slide a agent deck chris dahls board, it's better for sliding, cause it was designed for that purpose, the dervish is long as, and hard to slide,
I tried this yesterday and they turned out pretty well. Instead of making pucks that cover two fingers at a time, I did individual pucks for each finger, and I think the 1 puck for 2 fingers way is probably better. The edges of my finger pucks catch on cracks in the pavement. Also I held my pucks with pliars and heated them before applying them to the gloves. Great vid! Also, wear pads!
