Donnie did this movie justice, too bad there wasnt as much action scenes as I wanted, however for people who have not seen this, the climax of the movie is half an hour of action straight: guns and fists galore.
I always suggested and hoped Donnie Yen would make a series of these films, ie. SPL 1, 2, 3 Flashpoint 1,2,3 There hasnt been a series like these for 20 years! make it happen, and end your career in all the glory!
FlashPoint was planned to be a prequel to SPL anyway, but circumstances forced the cast and crew to move along with a different variation of the script.
Also, he'll be hitting 50 soon and quickly losing the imposing aesthetic he once held. Furthermore, he has a lot on his plate in terms of filming. Films slated for release include: The Monkey King, Iceman Cometh 3D, and Ultimate Codebreak.
Then again....perhaps I'm underestimating Yen. He could pack on that muscle mass he once had not too long ago. Either way, I'm pleased with how much he has achieved in the last half-decade out of his twenty-something-years' worth of being in the industry. He's the epitome of sticking to your guns and refusing to give up. He single-handedly put HK action back onto the map.

This movie was 1 year before the first Ip Man, so this guy was making great movies even before then. The big crowd is giving his movies the attention they deserve now that they've had a taste with the Ip Man movies.

@hileeluya hey i feel you man. hollywood can make decent action movies but like donnie yen said in some of his interviews they do more cuts and editing wen makin the action scenes not stand out more as a form of art. most big hollywood movies has great storytelling but can't follow through with the action scenes n it ends fallin flat. hollywood is usually very self center n greedy so thats why u dont see alot of outside stars stay very long in the hollywood industry.
@squarecnix Limited mean, movies that are not hollywood made, movies that came from other places. And if they gonna play on the US cinerama, it will limited to play on select theater only. Sometime some english movies, but not so sure if its hollywood made or not, are also limited to play ( on LA and NY for most of time).
No. Dragon Dynasty is an American Distribution Company that bought the American Distribution rights to Flash Point so they could make money on sales of the Flash Point DVD in America and Canada etc.
Flash Point was made by Chinese with Chinese money as far as i know
I have it, well the Hong Kong version, I thin k I like SPL Sha Po Long (Killzone) better than Flashpoint. The ending fight scene was amazing though, but I still like SPL better

This is supposed to be a NEW AGE FIGHT ACTION FILM in the PUREST sense.

Ong Bak is one movie they did such thing. I think they said it was a good fight scene too. Not sure if it was part 1 or 2 been a while though.
