The longer scale allows you to tune the guitar much lower. The "standard tuning" on this guitar is BEADF#B. You can play this song in standard E tuning on a regular guitar. This kind of guitar andy here is playing is called a barritone.

He uses an acoustic baritone guitar which is tuned like B to B (I think) Which gives it a lower tone same guitar used in ebon coast too check out the standard versions they both sound pretty sweet

I've listened to this tune countless times now; I really like what Andy's added to the original. Loads of extras, character and intonation. It's a really timeless piece, and this just gives it that extra boost (for lack of words). When I play it, I mix Don's and Andy's version now as I think they work really well together.
