tone on 10 is single coil, 7 and below is humbucker, 1 master volume switch. These guitars are so underrated its sick. They stomp any Fender or Gibson of the same era that wasn't 10 grand out the door from the custom shop.

bought one in a pawn shop back in '85 for a C note . Wish I had it back , can't find one ANYWHERE !! for less than ~ 1 K . Mine was black & still had mud on it ( not dirt clods ... wet mud ) ... probably hadn't been in the pawn shop for 10 minutes . I kick myself in the ass every time I see one ( child of the 80's ) and wish I had kept her . Garage sale junkie to this day , looking for my long lost honey . The RAZER rocked my world and I would give almost anything to get another copy ....

it's called a pinch harmonic,

it's somewhat like hitting the string with your pick and thumb at the same time, almost like pinching it between the thumb and the pick. That produces that screaming sound:)

Back in the early 80's Peavey guitars were mostly played by Country musicians. The Razer and the Mantis was their way to try to change that image. Like the old Ovation Breadwinners (another fugly guitar) they are starting to become collectible now.

I say Peavey makes some great guitars. I ahve an old A.M. Peavey Predator that is still my favorite player. Absolutley love it. Many Peavey models are fantastic quality.

the spider I amp by line 6 was a really good amp but th2 and 3 was not so good.Ok,it was for metalheads or country lovers but nothing else it couldnt cut a nice rock or blues tone no matter how you set the eq.I have owned all of them and the spider 1 was the b est

the traditional guitar shape allows u to sit down with it comfortably. Italso allows it to baance when your standing with it. some have extended cutaways soyou can reach frets easier. so your wrong. Shape serves a purpose.

Looks like a very comfortable little guitar to play, its peavey so you can count on it being of quality work , it sounds absolutely vicious ...mean little piece of ass axe...love the look of it .....just one thing i would change about it ......even if it is a collector guitar ....id have to take it to a tech , or builder and get em' to strap a floyd rose on it .....then it will fuck everybody that gets close to it

I had an '84 red Peavy Razer that I bought used in about '92- it wasn't my favorite looking guitar, and the pronounced point off the end could be a nuisance, but it had excellent sound for the 80 bucks I dropped on it, stayed in tune, and I realy liked the stock fretboard on the thing.
