  • That true

  • Great video, let me know if you need more Nikon cameras.

  • Great video and I couldn't agree more. I'm a relatively new seller on ebay, and I've had to learn the hard way about the proper way to package items for shipment. Sellers, please treat your buyers the way you want to be treated. Don't be a cheap scape and throw items in a box with no protection. Its hard enough for sellers on eBay, at least this is something we can control.

  • how do you get those things to say that adress could we just wrute it down or coul r local post office do it

  • Sellers ship in mailers rather then jiffys because its quite a bit cheaper - here in the UK they go on size and weight and an jiffy bag obviously weights more then a envelope. Also the royal mail charge with thickness - Less then 2.5cm is a large letter anything thicker then 2.5cm is a packet and cost like 2 the price to ship. Jiffys (padded envelopes) are thick!

Although I do agree with the camera packaging

  • at least you going to have fun opening it! xD

  • i always ship electronic in plastic and bubble wrapp fragile obects as well

  • ... Amazon.

  • Good point! It might be common sense, but it surely isn't common knowledge. One time I bought something from an a-hole and the item was supposed to be new. Paid a fair price for it. Roughly 600 USD and that would be about the rrp, so I wasn't expecting jerry rigged shit. Luckily, the item's packaging was utter crap, the box matched its contents. The item arrived cracked open and further study showed someone had pried it open with a screwdriver which explained the screw I could see on the inside.

  • can you use any envelope or covers to ship items through USPS?

  • i just put everything into the box without protection for example a ps3.

still i put no returns accepted.

  • It's common sense, and boils down to how much the seller really cares. Very few actually give a crap, and what about the postal workers who throw around the packages?

    =/

  • Ive had problems like that before. I bought a military camo bag and the guy i bought it from sent it in a garbage bag and it was all beat up and had a cut in the side of it becuase of poor shipping.

  • When you sell something on ebay do you Always Have to Print the labels on your computer or Can you go to the Post Office , Help Please?

  • @LMpsych0 You don't have to print out the labels. it's convenient but not required. I've received plenty of packages where my name and address were just written on with a marker. I've also sent out lots of packages that way.

  • @ChicoEdge i think they Charge you more Just to Print Out the LAbel right? so Its Kinda Better to Even Go the Post Office and Weight and Save Money

  • @ChicoEdge thanks you ! , One more question

Someone won My item Bid and they didn't pay in 3 days , so i deleted and then He paid for it..

Like what i do.? How can mark it as shipped , But i did send it tho cause i got their address on Paypal.

    thanks

  • @LMpsych0 how to sell on ebay without paypal if your like me paypal limit anyone and everyone and hold your money for 180 days for no reason youtube.com/watch?v=WEvMV_xKGl0

  • I have a very important question here. Is it okay and is it better to use dropshipping with companies that are doing business with me on eBay so that I don't have to keep driving down to the UPS or FedEx, buy boxes and having to do all this work myself? I know dropshipping is very easy and that the company will do it for me, but is it a good idea and better on eBay?

  • if i ship a packaged phone(virgin mobile optimus v) with the bubble mailers, will the phone be damaged or be safe? or do i have to use a box for that? please reply

  • i fuckin agree.

  • lol, this guy sounds pissed, especially at the end, but I see your point.

  • SOME PEOPLE WILL CHARGE 50.00 ON SHIPPING AND A DOLLAR ON THE ITEM BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE THE PRICE THE SELLER WOULD BE ASKING AND TO SAVE ALOT OF MONEY ON FINAL SALE ON EBAY !!!

  • We sold a huge inventory of Elvis and Beatles records last year and had no idea how to ship them. We now plan ahead and decide how something would ship best before we even list it.

Oh, we did find a video page on how to make a cardboard box just for records that was very good for us.

Sorry, all those records are now sold.

  • I'm going to pre package all my stuff now and use the Shipping wizzard on Ebay from now on. I used to estimate shipping and I only charge $2 for handling and shipping supplies, I refuse to package like you have pointed out, yet I have a low DSR in that area. Some people must think it's REALLY cheap to ship/package things. now with a low DSR, I get charged more and have to somehow pass that on to customers..I'm not going to give my things away.

  • Why stay away from Sellers that charge higher shipping rates, why not just quickly ask them will they package for this price fairly? (i charge a lilttle higher but i promise my shipping damage, if it happens will not be from poor packaging)

  • @Mustafoinc I wasn't talking about sellers who charge "a little higher". I was talking about the sellers who have a ring (as one example) with a very low sale price but shipping costs $40 to $50. It's not so much of a problem now but it was rampant a few tyears ago.

  • @ChicoEdge kewl, thank you sir. I wanted to know your view on that. Thanks again.

  • I'm going to start selling stuff on Ebay but I have a few questions and it'd be great if you could answer:

Do I HAVE to print out the shipping label thing from paypal or can I just make my own?

Do I get charged for printing that label?

Do I get charged by ebay for selling/shipping?

How do I know what is the best shipping price I should charge for the item?

  • @KitsuneKitsu You can make your own shipping label but you can also do that at UPS or the Post Office or FedEx, etc...

eBay charges a small insertion fee (usually under $1 for me) and a final fee of about 8.75% of the final bid amount.

You'' have to research the shipping prices among the various services using factors such as your item's weight, box dimensions, etc...

  • @ChicoEdge Ohh, much thanks for the fast reply.

So I guess if I need some money in my paypal before selling? or do they charge the fees after you sell, from your received payment?

XD Sorry for all the questions

  • @KitsuneKitsu eBay doesn't charge you for a couple of weeks to a month later.

  • hi dude i really like this video and my question is why didn't this guy print a shipping label? Do you have to print a shipping label for the item the buyer purchase or can you just go to the postal office and pay for the item there ??

  • i allways send my stuff that i sell on ebay registered 1st class post since some people try and say they havent got the item when the way i use means they have to sign for it so i know they have got it

  • Thanks for the info. I will make sure to package my stuff as i would like to receive it.

  • hi, i want to sell a ps3. i have the original box but i dont know how to package it. can anyone help??

  • @OiLangley Put it back in the box with either styrofoam, bubble wrap or wadded newspaper all around it. If you can wrap the console in some plastic as well that would be great. Sometimes UPS will take my box and out it in another box with some padding for free but no promises. If they won't do that then put the console box in another box yourself and add some padding like wadded newspaper. If you're selling on eBay, require insurance for this purchase and eBay will add the charge to the price

  • @ChicoEdge thank you so much! : )

  • buyers If your going to bid on an item always calculate shipping as your final price. Some have high shipping and low prices but in the end can sometimes be less price overall as those with low shipping. But I Agree with you on some of the shipping. A roll of bubble wrap is like a dollar or something. As long as the item is safe then np.

  • what if i wanna sell a halloween mask any ideas on how to ship it?

  • @Evo10Rocks Are we talking about a regular mask or a custom piece that you made? If it's just a regular mask I'd consider putting it in a plastic bag and then stick that into a box filled with newspaper.

  • do you get your ebay pakage from the post or to ur house and say if its deliver to the post do the send u a letter saying u got a pakage

  • Wow that's hilarious, a lunchbag? What the hell would that shipper be thinking? lol

    That's absurd!

  • Good advice

  • Where cani get this bubble stuff, cause i'm thinking of selling stuff on ebay.

  • @DJKasumiNin You can get envelopes with bubble liner at any store that sells envelopes or shipping supplies. I get 2-packs at the Dollar store all the time. If you want bubble wrap for shipping things in boxes you can get that at any store that sells shipping supplies, Office Depot, UPS Store or even eBay and Amazon.com.

  • @ChicoEdge Do I need a Paypall to sell stuff?

  • @DJKasumiNin im not sure were you live but you can get them at any dollar store they are also sold at postage offices...you may be abble to buy them on ebay

  • lmao the whole thing is in tape omg you probably gonna break the game before the case is even open.what was the game called??

  • @hasanbangz It was a long time ago so I don't recall exactly. I think it was the Dreamcast version of Vigilante 8: Second Offense.

  • how old do you have to be to ship thing?

  • amen

  • I still dont know how to do those things, yesterday i sent my first ebay shipping. I sent a ds game in its box in a flat rate envelope without the bubble mailer. Do you think the buyer will get like pissed off or something? i think i just ruined my first feedback as a seller XD

  • how you know how much is the shipping to a spesific area?

  • ebay carges u when u sighn up wow cause i am selling stuff an i dont want to get chared

  • People,, Think!,, ship and HANDLING! I noticed ebay has a limit on what u can charge for shipping in certain Catagories,,,Ive been burnt by that,, ive been charged Double what i was let to charge for shipping! But my point is,, if you dont want to pay for asked shipping,, Dont bid!

  • I don't mind paying shipping charges. I've paid over $200 to have a single item shipped. However, when I do pay shipping the item should have something more than a bit of brown paper bag wrapped around it. Something like a camera should not be left open so that bits of styrofoam can get into it. Amazon puts items into boxes and even provides air pouches for fragile items and their shipping is generally free.

  • Shipping is all Relative,,,,all depends on where its going,,, my ebay mentor told me to either use Calculate,, or to enter my own Area code then the farthest area code as the destination,,add 2 0unces to smaller items and add 2 pounds to big items,, and just give a flat rate,, that way everyone pays the SAME shipping and i wont get burnt for giving a shipping rate to michigan and it actually gets shipped to California,,,,BIG difference in shipping rates there!

  • haha that guy has some ghetto mailing. rofl

  • hey. does eBay charge you monthly?...cuz ebay just charge me $29.19..why is that? just because i m a seller? i mean im not a overrated seller to have alot of money on my paypal account...can you help or i dont' know, tell me something that i dont know plz.

  • Do you have an eBay store? That's a monthly charge. If you don't have a store, eBay does charge a final value fee of around 9%. Did you sell a few hundred dollars worth of stuff over the last month or so? You should have received an email from eBay that would have been a receipt. Does the email say why you were charged?

  • uhm i don't think i have a eBay Store, and yeah i sold some stuff in the last month but it was a like 6 ps3 games and a mini home theater of $50.00 but not more than that. and i receive an email from PayPal. Subject was ''eBay Seller Fees Recurring Billing Payment'' and inside says the total which was $29.19

  • Good tips. I'm thinking of selling some stuff on ebay and I really don't know anything about good shipping practices.

  • quit your bitching

  • omg rofl ur comment made me laff so hard!

  • Where do you buy a box and the foam thingies because I'm selling my psp soon

  • I hear ya loud and clear man! They have no excuse when they can order free flat rate shipping supplies online through the USPS.

  • LOL free? for first class mail? I don't think so. You only get *free* supplies with Priority Mail and Express which is much more expensive to ship with compared to first class or media mail.

  • i never said first class mail einstein

  • No you didn't. But it does not take a genius to figure out that any money you might save using *free supplies* is lost when you have to pay for the more expensive shipping service.

  • Well in case you haven't noticed, this isn't about the price of shipping, rather protecting the item. I said they have no excuse because to protect the item well, say it takes a box. say they can't find a box. well they can get them free online, therefore no excuse not to use a box.

being free online makes it easy that's all i meant.

hope this can clear things up before you have to go around calling me a moron and hating because you don't understand a comment.

  • Hey the only one name-calling was you.

If you read my posts you will notice that I agree it's poor packaging.

You say there is no excuse for it because they could get a free box online. This opinion is unrealistic and incorrigibly biased in a way that would be completely unfeasible for any seller to comply with. BECAUSE free shipping supplies only apply to a much more expensive shipping service. This is the same whether you use USPS, FedEx, or UPS.

  • I'm just fucking saying that they should care more about protecting the item and keeping the customer than shipping costs which means getitng a free box and paying more for shipping is better than saving a copuple bucks and possibly breaking shit.

the guy in the video said he was charged 5 dollars shipping, and the seller could have gotten a free flat rate priority mail box for $4.95 to ship that would have protected it more.

    understand what I'm saying yet???

  • Wow hostile much?

A seller won't HAVE any customers to keep if they charge $5-7 to ship priority when they can get the same item from somewhere else shipped for $2.

In the cd-dvd-games categories, a seller cannot afford to blow an extra $3 to ship it in a box just to keep a customer. They couldn't stay in business. That kind of attitude- expecting everything for NOTHING is crude and irrational.

OP does not state the TOTAL price paid like was it $6? The only profit would be in the $5 ship.

  • I'm just saying if you charge 5 dollars shipping like these people do, and like OP said, that they could package it better. I was just stating ONE way they could do so.. maybe not the most cost efficient, but you're not supposed to profit from shipping charges anyway. Shipping charges are meant to cover the cost it takes to send the item (I thought that was pretty god damn obvious.) They have reserve prices for a reason...

  • @krankiev yeah, but to use Reserve is an Extra 2.00 PER ITEM in listing fees,,,and thats not,, including final value fees,, and Paypal takes a percentage of Shipping fees too! I sometimes post an item at Cost and make my money at handling fees! You know,,,its not JUST the shipping ur paying for,, ur time, GAS,,,Sometimes u got to buy boxes,,,and packing materials,if something breaks,,the buyer may still leave bad feed back if you dont ship a replacement at YOUR shipping expense!!!

  • To be honest, I don't remember the total price but it's irrelevant. Shipping charges are there to cover the cost of getting the items out to the buyers. It's not meant to be an additional profit center though some sellers use to offer items cheaply and charge insanely high shipping fees. As noted in the video, a 6x9 bubble mailer and postage would have come to less than half of the shipping fee. He could drop it in the mailbox and still make a couple of bucks per item.

  • @ChicoEdge

Exactly and I totally agree with you on this. My point is, you knew before you bought that the seller was grossly overcharging the shipping cost.

If he continues to run his business like that, he will not last long on eBay. Some 1 or 2 star ratings from a few buyers when they leave feedback and he'd be banned from the site.

  • if you ship games or other similar media, you should've known it would'nt cost $5 to ship via USPS in the US. Unless you paid for insurance but it should still be under $5. Basically if you looked before purchasing you would've known the shipping cost was too high.

No doubt the packaging needs improvement. But unless you buy bubble mailers in bulk, you're hard-pressed to find mailers for cheaper than $1.20 per padded mailer. Some sellers charge handling fees to cover actual packing costs tho.

  • Well, it's not uncommon for games on eBay to ship for $3-$5. I'm okay with that if it includes decent packaging. In my area, the local dollar stores have the bubble mailer 2-Packs for a buck.

If the seller mentioned in this video had used one of those, his costs would have been under $2.40 for the mailer and shipping (out of $5 charged) and he also would have saved himself the time and trouble of having to wrap and tape that game up.

  • Sorry the absolute maximum amount for First Class Mail shipping within the US is $3.26 unless you get online postage discounts.

Most games, cd's, dvds will weigh between 4-6oz thats $1-2 first class mail. (Insurance would be 1.75)

Dollar store envelopes are usually smaller with less padding. You basically have to *force* a dvd size case into an envelope and then oops you split the envelope.

You should also take into account the total price you paid. AKA Won a .99 cent auction w/ $5 ship

  • 1. The cost of shipping isn't the issue, it's the lousy way some sellers pack items. In the one example, the seller used a bit of paper bag and some packing tape. He easily could have used a mailer and still made a profit on shipping fees.

    2. All of the local dollar stores sell 6x9 bubble mailers - 2 for $1. CDs with cases easily fit inside with a bit of paperwork. I send them out all of the time.

    3. Total cost is irrelevant. Simply charge a shipping fee that covers the cost of decent supplies

  • Yes I realize that and agree.

However my point is that you knew before you purchased, that you were overcharged on the shipping cost. So how does it surprise you that the seller would jip you on the packaging too.

  • After watching this I see ways i can improve

  • when you ship something to somebody from ebay, do you just get their address from them and ship it there?

  • They will typically have their address registered with eBay and that information will come up when it's time to ship.

  • ok if its somehting from ca to nj how long does it take

  • So very true.

  • Yeah. I hate it when the shippers charge lke 20 bucks and on the little tag i says $2.43. And i also hate it when you cant get the seller to respond. I bought an xbox, a 3 weeks passed, and i still didnt see it. Then a week after that , they sent a letter saying. The xbox doesnt work. We wont sell it. I had to leave them bad feedback

  • oh and i hope u gave him a negetive feedback too >:)LOL

  • wow.....i would be mad if i got my items like that too..PAPERBAG LOL! i was thinking of selling on ebay but i just dont know how to package/ship things, but this video gave me some ideas :] ill be sure not to do that if i sell my video games XD. cool video!! :D
