  • Interesting mix...gotta say I enjoy the original & extended versions better though.

    eXile = great album

  • I've found I like just about anything by Gary Numan; despite the labels people try to put on his music. Goth this; Emo that;...really? I think Gary himself could give a rats ass about labels; because he is his own and everyone else is just along for the ride. I listen to him because the man knows how to invoke solid imagery that touches whoever has a heart and the ears to handle what Gary has to say. This kind of music stands on its own as Gary Numan;.. and doesn't need or require a label.

  • @zenjim007 he started out on the back of the punk boom in the 70`s , check out "tubeway army `oh didn`t I say / bombers" (1978)

  • @tecdessus Sounds familiar; I probably heard it before; but it might have happened during one of my blackouts. My generation has a saying about the 70s. "If you can remember the 70s then you probably weren't there"! However just the same; thanks for the info and heads up into early Numan discography; I'll check it out just the same. !978 was a good year! I believe The Cars first album premiered, Punk was enjoying it Golden Age and Debra Harry was babe prime!

  • @zenjim007 I can remember quite a lot of the 70`s actually, but it wasn`t all great ! lol. 1978 was the year it all started to change after the initial shock value of punk, and the slow death of Disco. Many great new acts were popping up, not least the embryonic B-52`s :D

  • @tecdessus The early 70s weren't were a bit depressing with the the death and rise of Disco; but in 1978 I got interested in music again. I have to say I enjoyed enjoyed the 1980s far more. I just loved the way the girls dressed and wore their hair, the music with the early days of MTV, shows like "Miami Vice" and just having fun without worrying about too much.

  • @zenjim007 Sorry made mistake...I meant death of Jim Morrison and rise of Disco. Jim's death hit me hard.

  • Thankyou for posting this Anna

  • really quite a change from "my car is warm and safe i like being inside it" to "everything is shit and miserable and everyone sucks"

  • @stopthesoftkill That was actually the message behind a lot of his earlier material, it was just more subliminal, metaphorical, & not in your face like it is now.

    "Cars" isn't actually about cars, it's about shutting yourself off from the world, others, your own emotions, everything, but it's disguised as an upbeat synthpop song. He wasn't as comfortable with himself back then as he is now, which is why it sounds so different, but it's actually still quite similar.

  • Disturbing,ice cold,depressing, and....well...A CLASSIC ! Few recording artists can

    portray the dark feel as this song does. Sorry Ozzy, But Gary Numan rules!

  • love it! CHILLINGLY beautiful. I can hear the doors of the graves opening, creaking and the door of the crypt clanking AWESOME

  • Sinister indeed!

  • Yes, this is real goth music! Thanks!!
