Me and 3 buddies finished this one on C64 one summer back in the day..I remember the moon gates, getting to ambrosia via the whirlpool the first time after thinking we died, the dungeons to get the marks, when it came to the end we had it so each member of the party carried one of the marks so we all had to stay alive to win. Should have had each member get all the marks..would have been alot easier lol
In my opinion, this is the very best song in the history of video games! It tells a very, in depth story, without any lyrics! I used to play this game all the time as a child, progressed very far, but ultimately (pun intended), did not complete this game.
I definitely remember the Ultima III battle music, it was very good, however, I liked "Wanderer" better. I did play Ultima IV (4), too, and that version of "Wanderer" did not make much of an impact on me.
So tell me, friend, have you completed any of the Ultima's for Commodore 64? I didn't complete any of them! The closest was Ultima III, deep into the game, but for some reason, I gave up! Love the music, though, memories of years gone by!
Nope. Came very very close with U4, got all the items, half my party up to level 8 and all the virtues but you need the whole party at level 8 and I never managed it. I should go grab an emulator and a d64 image and play it again.
To be honest, I'm not really motivated, anymore, to complete Ultima (any of them). However, the music, did bring back awesome childhood memories of this game! Let me know if attempt Ultima III (3) because there is a trick, I remember for the last part of the game!
its good but nowhere near as good as the apple II version

@megajaronX
So, post the apple II version so I can see if I agree.

Apple II music vs Commodore 64 music? It's not even close... Commodore's sound was years before anything else at that time.

Thanks for this. Ultima III is a legend.
Kenneth Arnold, the composer, is regarded as genius or close to it by me.

I wasted so many hours as a teen on this darn thing.

Ugh. That is sure tinny! The Atari 800 or Apple Mockingboard versions are much better.

This brings back memories when I was playing on my C-64 when I was 13. This music IS computer roleplaying in my mind.

By the way, is this the Commodore 64 version for the music? Thanks!
RafaelNadal11 3 years ago
Yes. You can tell it's the C-64 from the synth style.

The composer of this song is pure genius!

I actually made a Mario Paint Composition of this song. I didn't realize it was a request until LoloGuru told me. So I'll share the video with you.

I think the Ultima III battle music is the best, followed by U4 wanderer.

Probably. I think the main reason I like U4 Wanderer is that I spent so much more time playing U4 as a kid than any of the others.
Had my extremely crappy computer and my C64 emulator, downloaded a pack containing something like half the C64 games ever released. So much fun.
