  • O my its so sad that we have to be told these things if we would just think about the way we internalize things we would know that those things hurt so bad and then we would not do it to others but i guess thats not how our minds work.....I love this video it is awesome and it says what i feel! Thank you....-18

  • Thanks, Guloninae, so glad you liked the video! I have the words written in a blog post on my website for October 12, 2010. It's not allowing me to post the link here but it's entitled Fighting-weight-obsession: The-video-and-the-words (Good-Girls-Don't-Get-Fat-by-Dr-Robyn-Silverman/ I also linked to it today, February 21, 2011, at the very bottom of my post called "14 Signs Your Child or Teen May Have an Eating Disorder". Enjoy!

  • I really liked this video, but the words go by WAY TOO FAST. Would be great if the uploader could slow it down so that it's not so busy and viewers can actually read the great words in it.

  • Thank you, ClythiaMystica. I hope you are getting the help you need so you can gain control and power over your life and kick weight obsession to the curb. There are great resources out there. Many are listed in my book, Good Girls Don't Get Fat. I wish you the best of luck and healthiest of lives.

  • I'm glad it has helped you, MoonCrystalPower19. Stay strong and reach out for help. There is help out there for you.

Thank you Mamachay18. That means a great deal! I love hearing that the video is being used to help students in various parts of the world! Go you!...for being such a great teacher.

I thank you all for your comments and look forward to hearing more!

  • @DrRobynSilverman this video is excellent, i can relate so much (bulimic for 2 years)

  • this helped me some, ive always hated myself and body and even wanted to kill myself, people call me fat and it hurted, i still think of sucide,, but this helped..

  • This is amazing! I am a high school teacher and I am going to use this because it talks about what I preach everyday! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!

  • Watching this video again today after just learning that Kelly Osbourne shed tears of joy over appearing in a bikini for a Shape mag cover. Miss her being a feisty voice in teen culture. Sigh.

There's a lot of work to do on this issue....

  • Thank you so much for your comments so far. I'm so touched that the video and the book, Good Girls Don't Get Fat, is encouraging conversation on the topic of body image. Thrilled the message is getting out there so that we can do something about this! Can't wait to hear what you think of the book.

Sarah, and anyone else who is suffering from an eating disorder, you can call the National Eating Disorders Association's toll free, Helpline Monday-Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, PST 1-800-931-2237

  • This video helped me so much with my health project, you are genius

  • I watch this video. I understand the message. I agree with it. And then I don't eat. I think this applies to everyone else, but not me. Because I hate who I am and what I see in the mirror. My mother always told me "When you lose 30lbs you will be stunning". Now I've lost 40 and am not stopping.

My BMI is too high to be diagnosed with anorexia

But I plan on changing that.

    I can't stop hating myself.

  • This book is a message for our times, and it applies to grown, adult women as well. I am a devoted advocate for the importance of self-image and its contribution to the quality of everything from health and relationships to career and business success. Having personally experienced the self-sabotaging effects of low self-image on one's life, and the empowerment that is possible in overcoming these low inner images, I am grateful and excited to see the publication of this book. Thanks for this

  • a must see yes I'm waging this war in my small town and it breaks my heart. I'm showing this video to everyone! I hope this becomes our new mantra!

  • Really good and completly true, I'm a 17 year old girl, and I'm surrounded by this everyday...my friends, classmates, teachers, family members, and myself struggling with our wieght as we push eachother to "look better" by critisizing those who may be larger or etc..

  • this was absolutely excellent.

  • Loved this! A powerful message that we are ALL responsible for messing up our girls with the fat talk. If we want our girls to thrive, be happy & grow into their full potential we have got to pay attention to what we say, model the body image we want our daughters to have & raise our girls from the inside out - so they are strong, passionate & tenacious in pursuing their dreams. You rocked this one, Dr. Robyn! Kudos to you, for writing such an important book.

  • This is really powerful and so important. Crazy that this message is counter-culture. May it become the new pop culture. Thanks for making this and writing the book, Robyn!
