I'm a Singaporean Chinese and I have total respect and love Japan even more than my own country.I can say that Singaporean Chinese don't hold a grudge or even hate Japanese for what they have done during WWII.Whats history should be left in the past,those things happened in a different generation and those ppl who are responsible for it probably passed away a long time ago or were punished after the war.

I'm from singapore. I don't hate the japanese. Heck I just donated 60 bucks. Most of the country doesn't hold what they did in the war to them, thats a different generation and a different time. In fact, I think quite a few agree that the atomic bombs were a little overkill.

Responding to all the arguments. Yes I'm aware of what Japan did to China decades ago but Japan is in need of help. Many Chinese people believe that god is taking revenge on the Japanese for their attacks. However, Chinese people dont really "hate" Japan. that's a strong word.

The Japanese were the ones who occupied Hong Kong so don't go around telling people that they are not educated properly. I for one know that the Japanese slain millions of the Chinese. What's really shocking is that the citizens of Japan were given weapons and were told to go around and kill innocent civilians. They showed no mercy to them, mounted the heads on sticks.

i'm not even arguing about what japan did during the war - we're on the same page here. but go to HK, or taiwan, or macau, or singapore, and ask people if they still hate the japanese. not all, but MOST people would say "no" (most even LIKE japan now - whether you like that fact or not is a different question) - unlike in the mainland (where, lets not be naive, the gov't conveniently uses japan as a scapegoat to skeer attention away from themselves). HK and china = different.

jeezus... ok let me explain where i'm coming from. i'm part japanese, i live in japan but work for a company in HK. i've lived in vancouver as well (thats where peter chao lives). i'm not just pulling shit out my ass. i go to china, HK, taiwan etc. ALL THE TIME. i have countless chinese colleagues and friends. i've discussed about chinese-japanese relations countless times. i've had nights where i couldn't sleep thinking about what took place 60 years ago.

Just like saying that the stereotype of black people is that they are involved with crime does not generalize the whole african american race, just like a chinese stereotype. however, peter chao is representing all chinese stereotypes which means that he in theory should hate the Japanese. I can see that he was trying to sound sincere and serious. I would have taken him more seriously if he didn't use the accent.
