I guess from an over-under grip, you can do the same move without a gi, but I'm not sure.

No, over under will have completely different variation of the move. Which is a lateral toss or lateral twist(a little different).

It possible without gi if you can reach your opponents short/pants and grab them. This way you will be able to have torque on the center of his body when you step close to him.

its probably possible with front headlock but you couldnt go straight back. one would have to turn to the side like cherez grud.

This particular throw is more difficult, but you can do it from a Karelin bodylock.
