So there I was, cruising the web for AC1 walkthroughs (It's the only Assassin's Creed game I haven't played), when I come across this one by some fellow calling himself "Mmac." Now, where have I heard that before? Oh, that's right! I watched this guy's Half-Life 1 through Half-Life 2: E2 walkthroughs several years ago! This guy's awesome! Well, I've got my activity for the next week or so.

Why couldn't Assassin's Creed simply have a been a series on the lives of several assassins without all of the religious alternative history behind it?

Remember how Ezio had the story to his family being killed? Something like that, but without all of the futuristic alternative to history. Know what I mean now?

Anyway to answer your question ,it's because that if they didn't do that their stories would be meaningless you see the lifes of those assassins for revelations of things that might happen in their time the stories of these assassins is the key to win the war.Even if Ezio and Altair are the main assassins it's still Desmond's story.

@BiGdaddyM100 Nah, don't worry about it. =) But anyways, I would still much rather have seen the stories play out to have simpler solutions instead of what they really were. I'm sure gamers would have been satisfied with that aspect. All I ever got out of the trailers was "Okay, this is about a badass assassin." That's all people wanted to play, really.

@Kholdie I see what you are getting at but assassins creed is about war between two orders and it would mean that if they only focused on assassins they would have to make stories for assassins from the third crusade t'ill the 21 century and to cram that into a handful of games would mean less story and less character development. What i got about the trailer is "Damn they kill people the in the coolest way ever " and then "Ok this is a historical game about assassins" .

Not saying it wasn't because of that issue I brought up, but I didn't expect something like THAT to come up with the kind of trailers that Ubisoft came up with for the games.

@Kholdie To be quite honest i had the smae toughts as you in 2007-2009 Until i played the game and realised it was AWESOME with the current story. I bet that if they made the game the way you want it you wouldn't like it as much anymore or you would get tired of it a little bit faster (not saying your idea suck just saying) the future-past thing is what makes the game unique from all the other games...that and the hidden blades. Seriously think about it :)

I do not agree with the doctors theory, i think that animals act with a kind of instinct that gives it knowledge of the enviorement, like Altair said, this section of the game history is lame but the game itself is epic.

@ConvictionTheory cliffhanger. The series is meant to be a trilogy. AC: Brotherhood, is not AC3, it's kinda AC: 2.5. I honestly don't believe they will be able to explain the story in 3 main games. They will probably make more games like Brotherhood, which is a little pit stop between games. In every main game of the series, you can expect a different protaganist in a different time period. The other games are kinda like expansions, except they aren't. If you know what I mean.

@RuneHeroesBase well im guessing it was simply because they thought the hidden gun n throwing knifes was enough in the second game but they didnt have time to make it in the first just like they didnt get enough time to give him the abilty to swim. i noticed that throwing knifes don't kill enemies instantly after a while and then u really need to use ur gun and especially the bow if u wanna do it silent. but the posion darts seems to be the most discreet way

You can get the bow all you need to do is collect all those flags you see around. Once you collect each and every flag (420 flags total) you will recive the crossbow. Im still trying to find the flags though even with a guide.

yes, he can use a crossbow, all you have to do is scale and synchronize to every viewpoint in the game, and you get that crossbow

because in AC2 it's ezio and not altaïr, ezio has all his fingers and thanks to davinci he can keep all of them because he modefied the original hidden blade so he could keep all of his fingers

@DonSerio Leonardo wasn't the one who changed the blade design. It was Altair who changed the blade design, so that no one would have to sacrifice their ring finger. When he wrote the codex, on one of the pages he showed/drew out the design for the improved hidden blade (which also has a guard on it now so that one can defend themselves while attacking/defending with the hidden blade.) and it is with this that Leonardo fixes the blade.

Otherwise, Giovanni would be missing a finger in Lineage.
