  • Hi Betty, this looks very tasty. Have you ever tried adding a few real raspberries to this? I have tried something similar that was made with real strawberries and an aged balsamic with shallot and a touch of olive oil. It sounded odd to me at first but the taste was over the top. I love balsamic vinegar in so many dishes, especially my pasta sauces. It also makes a wonderful addition to my apple cider reduction for pork chops. Would love to splurge on one of the expensive bottles someday.

  • @KissHope I love balsamic vinegar, too! No, I didn't think to add real raspberries to this vinaigrette, but it sounds like a wonderful idea! Same, for strawberry and other flavors! I love your great ideas, Hope!

  • @bettyskitchen I think you could drop 1/4 cup or a few less with your other ingredients into a blender or food processor. I splurged last year and bought myself an immersion blender, ended up with Tyler Florence model. It was a good price and a tremendous amount more wattage than the cheap models, also has a power button that really revs up the blending. It really does a great job and the clean up is so easy. I'm having some friends over Sat so will going through your recipes for ideas.

  • @KissHope I am anxious to try adding the raspberries to the salad dressing. I have an immersion blender, but it's not top of the line. I don't use it much, because I have to keep it so vertical, and usually I grab a hand mixer, just for the sake of convenience. I should try using the stick blender more often!

    We will be anxiously waiting to see or hear how the recipe goes. I love strawberries but think the raspberry taste would work better. I never eat just raspberries alone but boy do they give everything a great taste. Land O Lakes makes hot chocolate and one of the flavors is choc/raspberry, it is literally dessert in a cup. I promise you will never have a better cup than Land O Lakes, love their butter but who knew they make the best cocoa.

  • Ooh, looks like a great dressing! Just wondering, how long would this keep? I usually toss together a balsamic/oil/ french or italian salad seasoning vinaigrette, and it keeps quite well in an airtight bottle, so I was just wondering if you've any idea how long this'd stay fresh?

  • This sounds good as usual.I found one in a mag just like this but it didn't call for mustard.It had brown sugar and O J in it and red wine vinegar mixed with balsamic vinegar.

  • Great recipe, Betty. I'll gladly use this for salad, but it could be used for a marinade for chicken, fish or vegetables.. again, no oil required for this... just be sure your grill is sprayed with high heat oil so it doesn't stick.

  • @GAGABOY999 Yes it's pretty easy to find. All major supermarkets carry it globally, but you could try a specialist store or deli if you can't find it or if you want a better brand or an organic version.

    I'm not sure where you are in the world but it's very common here in Australia, and I know also very easy to find in the UK.
