  • I would doubt he is the only player to hit a drop shot on championship point in a GS.... really?

  • It's Murray, who gives a crap about shot selection?

  • People just don't like Murray. lol. Unless you're from the UK.

  • Murray will pass Federer this year, 2012, to crack the top 3

  • @biozamadotcom Yeah, No... Next year maybe not this year. He actually did crack the top 3 last year but he choked that away too hahaha

  • Not a bad shot coming from Murray.

  • i kinda see a small smile on his face after he hit the dropper. Not a bad shot selection and he probably would've won that point if he didnt let the ball go.

  • he is an arrogant self loving dude pretending he is not !!! :-)

  • @TheXcessiv who are u to judge him?

  • Mens tennis currently: (Djokovic>Nadal>Federer>Djokovic>.... etc)>>>>Murray>>Everyone else.

  • lol i thought roger was celebrating until i saw murray was celebratin too then i realised federer was just annoyed

  • Only RF can think of hitting a drop shot on a Grand Slam chammpionship point... genius

  • @SuperBenLinus Genius? Desperation is more the word.

  • @ArjunJethwa that's what u think.

  • @SuperBenLinus It's true. Murray started to play better in third set, was ahead in tiebreak with set points, Federer couldn't risk letting Murray back into the match if tiebreak went to 10-10, so (still on serve) Federer hit's a desperate dropshot which fails.

There you are, act of desperation.

  • @ArjunJethwa I don't care about everything u said,,, but "desperate" that is the worse word you could pick for that incredible drop shot.. too bad Murray will retired before win one slam, what a shame.....

  • @SuperBenLinus No surprise you don't care because you can't understand the logic around it. Wrong shot at the wrong time. Could've easily cost him. Did he win the point? No.

And Murray not winning a slam? Ivan Lendl. Enough said.

  • @ArjunJethwa haters gonna hate.... im done here

  • @ArjunJethwa funny he doen't look desperate at all

  • @elfoxayulo For a man known for his calm and class, a dropshot on championship point then his post-shot reaction does whiff desperation.

  • @ArjunJethwa post-shot reaction shows he cares, irritation at leaving the ball and it dropped in. can't see how that could even be seen as 'desperate'

  • Personally, I couldn't believe that Federer played this shot but not because it was a drop-shot on championship point, but more because he was so far ahead in the point. Murray was like 3 meters behind the baseline and Federer had a short-ball with an easy forehand that he could go any direction with. The forehand has always been Roger's bread-and-butter shot... You have to stay with your best shot in that situation. Also, Murray is one of the best in the world at tracking down drop-shots down.

  • @dwilliams02

Since he spent the night giving Murray a lesson on how tennis should be played, it was fair enough that he tries a ridiculous shot.

  • this video should be called federers grazy drop shot in a grand slam championship point which murray gets

  • @FarshadRoger If that dropshot would have landed in, how do you think the match would have turned out

  • forget the drop shot! did you see that return!

  • i think both thought they won the point.

  • 0:10 What, I'm the one who listen a dog in that second?..

  • wait the ball went out right?

  • @Dylann140 No, Murray made it and it was in.

  • Who cares lol. He was up 2 sets, not like it was The Isner-Mahut match lol.

  • @Sundin456 Haha i watched all of that match:P So funny how their movement just got slower and slower as the match went on! XD

  • Federer explained in the interview after this match that you have to take risks to win big matches and slams, and he won and is by far the best tennis player ever so it certainly pays off. I would say that his choice of playing a drop shot is not a bad choice at all.

  • i think what really COULD have changed the match was NOT his drop, but the fact that he let that ball go by him, thinking it was out .. he could've easily put away that volley as his racquet was out but he PULLED IT BACK! lol

  • Roger is the best in the world regardless of his rankings right now!!!!!

  • This isnt a bad shot by roger. its an amazing get by andy. have a look how far behind the bassline he is!

  • no ,the shot could not change a result of the match

    MURRAY IS A LOSER ..!..

thats why ,if not ,he should have won that tiebreak ..

  • i think federer is experementing something for doing consecutive drop shot...and that makes him lose several time in roger vs raf..

  • Q. "do you think he did the right thing?"

    A. It's not a moral issue, it's just part of a game. If he enjoyed hitting the drop shot, I guess you could call it doing the right thing

  • Gotta cut Murray some slack here.

Federer absolutely destroys Murray's second serve with vengeance back into the court, he manages to return it seriously well and runs with speed to return a drop shot.

...all at championship point in a slam final. Regardless of what happens two points later....that takes balls.

  • Thats usual Federer mistake.

Making a drop shot instead of ending the point by a cross-court shot: just look at this year australian open semi against Dokovic. He's facing a break point at 5-3 in the second set (serving for the set). He's dominating the rally, creating the gap, and then do a bad drop shot on a short ball instead of finishing it cross court... Djokovic get the ball with an easy passing shot. Debreak.

  • @HornyGates

Kinda agree with this! He also had a set point against Nadal this year in Roland Garros but ruined it by a faulty drop shot! he shouldnt use it at such important moments in such important matches....seriously!

  • @FarshadRoger Did also against Nadal in Madrid this year. Third set, 2-1 Nadal, 30-30 Federer serving. Great forehand getting Nadal far from his baseline --> short ball bouncing high on the net, but instead of hitting it simply, the Swiss goes for a high ugly drop shot... Nadal caught it with a fine passing shot.

Break point and break the very following point.

Sometimes this guy fail himself, too bad.

  • @FarshadRoger dude i think the one at the french was totally different. Federer didnt have that point wrapped up like this one, he had it on his backhand and missed it by half a centimeter. If it had caught the line, fed was in good position to win that point. But thats tennis you never know what a point could have been

  • @TheRohzer

He generally use it way too much in important moments, i mean, i know its so difficult to make decisions in such important moments, and its not as easy as we talk about it while sitting on our soft chairs..but i remember him so many times, hitting drop shots instead of a safe BIG forehand or backhand to finish the point.

Hitting a drop shot against guys like Nadal,Djokovic,Murray...is way more risky.

  • @FarshadRoger Um if he wasn't leading 2 sets to LOVE he wouldn't be hitting those shots. He knows hes going to beat murray and naturally the entertainer side of him comes out

  • @FarshadRoger

I just think it's funny how federer used to never use drop shots, especially on clay, until around 2009 when he won Roland Garros. He said that he thought the drop shot was a "cowardly shot". Now he uses it consistently.

  • @njersey165

Yeah i rememeber him calling drop shot a CHEAP shot but the good thing is he saw there is no such thing as a cheap shot, if he can wrong foot his opponents or win a point by an easy drop and make them run like crazy ...why not using it?!

  • @FarshadRoger

Haha. I totally agree. Speaking of cheap shots. His worst rival to date, no name required, has done nothing but blasting nasty, lefty 6000rpm forehands into Fed's backhand for an entire match. If that's not being a coward, then performing a couple of artistic drop shots every no and then certainly isn't. Agree?

  • @TheRohzer I think if that ball had caught the line, Nadal wouldn't have even made it and set would have been over right there.

Anyways, this whole argument is stupid. In this particular point, the dropper was the right shot to play, he just didn't hit the pass. If he did, match over right there.

  • @FarshadRoger and when he hit the point than he made everything right. He's an tennis god, he knows what he is doing

  • @FarshadRoger Did you cry after that blown lead too? Like Johnny Mac said during the match: "this would be Roger's BIGGEST win ever: to beat Nadal, on CLAY, at the FRENCH, after all these years of defeat at Rafa's hands, would undoubtably be the biggest win for Roger."

And then he HAD THE LEAD! I couldn't believe it! I was doing somersaults in my living room! Then... he blew the lead with his ERRORS!

    Damn you NADAL!

  • @williamstdog9 It was like banging my head to the wall but TO ME, Roger always had the power to beat Nadal on Clay , there are enough videos from their 2006-7 matches that shows Roger could win the match but he simply lose to his mental problems,he cant play his best against the spaniard, especially on clay...its not Nadal's fault or his huge skills. its Roger not being able to BELIEVE that can win it, and now,he simply dont care much about wining or losing. so its easy to swallow

  • @FarshadRoger

Well, Nadal's performances on clay did brought him victory over Federer and not simply Federer not playing it... I don't think, being the player he was, that he had the sort of game required to get rid of him -- but to tell you, I'd change that bet in favor of Federer this year.

Besides, looking at the bloodshed in London, Federer doesn't seem too intimidated by Nadal or anyone for that sake.

  • @HornyGates who the fucka re you to question his shot selection. 16 grand slams, 22 masters sheilds and oer 65 million in prize money says he knows what he's doing

  • @HornyGates this one was a good choice, and he would have hit the ball if he had expected it to go in. generally, i find it a good shot to get you out of making big decisions if you can disguise it well

  • @Gbax13 It is a good shot, and Federer can do pretty beautiful and effective one. But he can also make pretty bad shots and ending regretting it. I mean, the corsscourt is way easier and 100% sure of winning the point.

  • huge balls from roger

  • If it were a cross court dropshot, the tiebreak would have ended right there.

  • amazing run from murray

    that's what he did

  • Crazy shot but beautiful.

    Roger best class

  • Crazy shot but beautiful.

    Roger best class

  • Federer could have touched it....but he let it go cuz he thought it was going to be out

  • judy murray is a slut who wants feleciano lopez cock in her ass.

  • Throwing MPs to Murray isn't the same as Nadal or Djokovic.

  • Who cares? Roger won the match 2-3 points later. He's brilliant

  • @sasuke1994pown

Like Super Benus Linus said wrong shot at the wrong time, this kind of shots cost him a set in a final against Nadal in RG 2011 final, in Madrid final when he was leading 4-2 in tiebreak and hit a dropshot, wrong tactics at wrong time definitely in my opinion.

  • yes, fed was annoyed he left it, but it would've been a major stretch and murray was quickly in position. the drop shot wasn't executed well and probably a tactical mistake against the fast murray. Fed said so himself, post-match (which the poster obviously knows)...

that said: close tie-break or not: Fed knew the match was done by then. this was not 2011, and Murray was already exhausted. his knees were giving in. he wouldn't have had a chance, while fed was still fresh and knew it.

  • if you notice, he's annoyed because he left it since he thought it was going to go out after murray returned it..

  • @FunkyDevil909 it was out though?

  • @10stokesy

    no, the shot was in..

  • @FunkyDevil909 really? everyone know that ¬¬

  • federer lost that point. watch murray celebrate. federer is just annoyed with himself for leaving it

  • lol, terrible drop shot... murray prob stuffed it because he had so much time he over thought it

  • He did the right thing and put Murray under pressure, but he shouldn't have given up on the point so fast...he should have stayed with Murray anticipating any play in return.
