My comment was not obtuse in the slightest but merely implied that even mighty america has people who are portrayed as simple, and the film goes on to show that you have to fight back against bullies. Your belief that the US intervening in matters around the world makes it a safer one is perhaps a little misguided and naive. The kid is Billy Redden. he is neither a retard or inbred. Copied from the net "Redden also appeared in Tim Burton's 2003 film Big Fish.
