  • Fabulous, one of my all time favorite scenes in filmdom!

  • George Bush's love child on banjo.

Moral of the story - don't let retards breed.

  • @mikethefoto

You should be ashamed of yourself for showing your ignorance so blatantly.

  • 0.0

The #1 movie that made men fear the banjo and pigs at the same time.

  • @CoHScrapper roflol.....omg your soo right!!!!! but what a great movie

  • Did they make fun of this scene in Yvon of the Yukon...? I can't remember; it's been so long since that show came on! @.@

  • love it, where are the guns xxx

  • One of my favorite scenes, any movie!!

  • This is my ringtone lol

  • Makes one wonder how much inbreeding was going on in that particular part of the USA!

  • Fuck -He's my cousin. Doh!

  • haha i asked me the same question lool

  • bahaha keep dreaming, boy.

  • i like the banjo

  • my sexual perversions will remain secret for a while longer

  • This clip was shown in my MBA - Conflict resolution class. People with differing personality, race, beliefs, etc come together productively when they find a common interest as in this clip the music. However my view is that in real life people develop much stronger bond at the end.

  • But if conflicting tastes in music result then in the end there would be a huge problem. Everyone thinks their favored genre is the best and is willing to argue why, and that would probably present more problems.

  • Did it also show the rest of themovie, where the hillbilly homosexuals try to rape them?

  • shit!!!! that kid's fast as hell, lucky!

  • Tarbert...Isle of Harris!

  • Damn... Pappy gets down at 2:50.

  • What is the name of this movie??

  • deliverance lol

  • What movie was this from? I just saw it recently but can't remember the name.

  • the movie is Deliverance, in brazil i need discovery the name [many times when translate change completily the name of movies ¬¬, and this make the search be a little hard]

  • That kid did not play the banjo origionaly.

If you watch th extras of the dvd it tells you who really played. But I'm too dumb to look it up. Cheers

  • earl scruggs

    i believe

  • remember this song well

  • that also hot

  • great song great movie

  • And you wonder why the world fears the states?

  • Who mentioned being anti American? Ignorant Moi? Tisk Tisk making such large assumptions based 9 words and a question mark. Watch the video again and if you have not seen it I suggest you watch the film as well and then see who discriminates against who. If you really feel that America is the worlds Policeman then perhaps it is you who have a blinkered view on this world of many countries and diverse ethnicities.

  • I'm very familiar with the film, thanks. If the point behind your 9 words and a question mark is so abstruse that only you understand it, perhaps it wasn't worth making in a public forum in the first place. This world of 'many countries and diverse ethnicities' would be safer without US interventions? For some people history obviously has no lessons. Tisk, Tisk!

  • My comment was not obtuse in the slightest but merely implied that even mighty america has people who are portrayed as simple, and the film goes on to show that you have to fight back against bullies. Your belief that the US intervening in matters around the world makes it a safer one is perhaps a little misguided and naive. Vietnam, Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq and the hunt for OBL are all recent examples of how the US got it wrong.

    SeeYa.

  • So Hitler, Stalin, Mao, OBL were not bullies to stood up to?! Who is a little naive? The US can't "get it right" 100% of the time, but that's no reason for inaction. PS: I didn't use the word obtuse.

  • Get a life... enjoy the music.. and chill. YT is not the place for this sort of discusion and I am sure we would agree on some things but hey - life is too short. You have your view and I have mine. Turning up the vol now so... cant here you.

  • Hey I'm back..

Hitler, Mao and those other fellers would of come along without the good ol U S of A. Its down to you an me despite two bottles of wine ... to think for our selves and fight for what we think is right. Me personnally think that ..... shot I lost me glass o wine...

  • This version seems to be faster that ullyses17's for sum reason =P.

  • This is as close to creating history as one can do...

    Just incredible...

  • Could you explain why?

  • marvelous

  • What a dancer the old fella is

  • Good music

  • Terrific sounds (by the great Eric Weissberg), but I've always been bothered by the fact that the kid seems to be "strumming" the banjo, but the sounds coming out are played by someone who's doing Scruggs-style picking!

  • HOT DAMN I THINK WE GOT A WINNER! Thanks for the vid!

  • SO GREAT JUST THAT

  • I just love the movie :D

  • read somwhere years ago that two clans thats the words used in the newspaper im not being disrespectful they where about 30 strong at the end of the day who cares he can really pick and before its too late wishing you all the very best for 2007

  • The kid is Billy Redden. he is neither a retard or inbred. Copied from the net "Redden also appeared in Tim Burton's 2003 film Big Fish. Burton was intent on getting Redden, who hadn't appeared in a film since Deliverance, to play the role of a banjo-playing welcomer in the utopian town of Spectre. Burton eventually found him in Clayton, Georgia, where Redden works as a cook and dishwasher at the Cookie Jar Café".

  • Ooohhhhhhhhh YUMMY that inbred boy looks fine daddy.

  • who cares if hes got a problem the kid look fuckin awsome as hell at that banjo(even though it looks like he aint playin it)

  • omg i love it:P

  • janjo sucks ASS mkdnt what what jp i love the banjo

  • banjo kicks ass iand i fight any one who says dif na just kidding

  • thanks i rele needed to know that blackstar

  • fantastic scene from a truly fantastic movie

  • Many thanks for putting this clip on yTube.

It's a great film and an excellent piece of music...

  • Until 1800 the banjo remained essentially a black instrument, although at times there was considerable interaction between whites and blacks in enjoying music and dance—whites usually participating as observers. What brought the instrument to the attention of the nation, however, was a grotesque representation of black culture by white performers in minstrel shows.

  • And the piano, guitar, cello, violin, harp, trumpet, trombone and countless others remained white instruments.

Even jazz has it's base in European classical music and coons in the American south studied in classical music conservatories.

"Dey weren't playing jazz music in da mutha-land".

Electronic music was invented by a German band called Kraftwerk in the mid 70s. Without Kraftwerk's innovations there would be no synth, drum and bass or hip hop.

  • fantastic, im starting to play the banjo, i love this, it shows what a great sound the banjo has. Fantastic clip, thnx for the upload.

  • The film was made in 1972. Deliverance stared Burt Reynolds and a lot of future stars. It has been saterized on 100's of tv programs such as the Simpsons, SNL and others. A great movie.

  • Too bad it's wasted on such a horrible... horrible film.

Don't bother renting it, honestly this is the only good part in the entire film.

  • Beautiful, beautiful

  • The clip is from Deliverance and the tune Dueling Banjos is played by Eric Weissberg (banjo) and Steve Mandell (guitar) and not by the characters in the film .

  • This is true.

  • kicks ass, the banjo is unusually cool

  • thats just bloody amazing!

  • Great scene, thanks for uploading.

  • yeah whats the name??:S

  • bracedance xD

  • PLEASE WHATS THE NAME OF THIS MOVIE?

  • film is called The Deliverence starring Burt Reynolds

  • Yeha those idiot savant people are really good at one thing, I saw this savant guy who could play the piano perfectly when he was like 4 years old. That song was friggin awesome:D Nothing like a good ol' banjo duel to cheer people up:P

  • Haha, I've never seen the actaul scene that the song was from. This is fantastic!

  • I used to be able to play the whole thing on one guitar, the acoustic and banjo parts.

  • Squeal like a pig, boy!

  • If That Dude was a tard how the hell could he play a banjo like that

  • Its called being an idiot savant. Not all retards are useless.

  • its dubbed over, he cant play banjo

  • That's true. The banjo picker was a local recruited for the role and taught to move his fingers in such a way as to appear to be playing the banjo.

  • Maybe he was a savant :) They are retarded.

  • Lots of country people are tards (no offense, lol) but they still be singing and dancing and playing teh guitar liek crazy

  • this boy is Billy Redden

  • lol that old guy starts crip walking

  • Omg, I was just thinking about this.

  • that is seriously the best song in the world, just two good ole boys strummin away, that song gits me going every time.

  • Fantastic evolution and resolution!

  • This is the only good bit of the film. The rest is sick.

  • That's awesome, I'm a metal guy myself, but I've always had a soft spot for bluegrass. I guess it's from growing up in the south.

  • That was sweet, was that little guy blind or something? is the name of the movie duelin banjos?

  • Nah that little guy is a bit retarded. And the movie is Deliverance - one of the best movies ever made.

  • o ok thx, and if hes retarded, hes a smart little retarted kid, and why is it the best movie ever?

  • How much I love that sound man! That's the sound of freedom , this is how I imagined and loved America when I was a teen...I wanna see that movie!!!

  • the movie is Deliverance

  • The movies name is "Deliverance" and the boy is supposed to be an inbred...you got to see the movie...unforgettable.
