@08071987 baby face is extremely easy once oyu know how to beat him, i cando it getting hit 1-2x twin face is freakgn hard though, i gave up after 15 tries lol
How do you unlock stage select in the game?! Tell me, i got as far as Baby Face today and i don't want to go through all of that trouble again just to get one level past him and lose! Continues are nearly impossible to get for me (I know, pick up enough falling junk from the bosses but it's not that easy!) Please help!
On title screen press start once so that the two options are present - Start Game and Options - leave the cursor on "Start Game" and press: C, A, Left, Right, B. Headdy will say 'Nice' to tell you that you'd inputted the code correctly, press the start button to enter level select. Use left and right to cycle through the levels.
Thank you so much for that, I just got it in the mail, and after my first playthough I realized how damn hard this game is, and how much better I was at it as a kid.
btw the Japanese version of the game is quite different from the US and PAL version. the most notable difference is that Trouble Bruin' is named Maruyama ,is purple instead of brown, and Is constantly smiling rather than frowning Animal Crossing style. If you have an Emulator I reccomend you try the Japanese version, especially if you are new to Dynamite Headdy because the game is easier overall. Bosses take less damage to kill and Headdy can survive longer. I'm uploading a video of is soon.
Nice. The Japanese version is better in my opinion. It think somone made a rom hack of the US version to where the Japanese text and features were put back in the game. I think they also made the boss text into english as well. I need to find that rom hack again so I can check it out myself.
If the old man grabs you he instantly dies for some reason. I guess he keels over from a heart attack because his eyes look up and a spirit floats above his head. Then he explodes! Headdy does not get damaged when grabbed from what I've seen.
That was fantastic! It's been ages, and I believe this is where I got stuck in the game, after many tries I just gave up. I need to get a rom for it and finish it some day.
What happens when the old man face grabs you? I barely recall this game, but I thought the old man boss grabs you...and then he dies right after that. I must be wrong then. Btw: you did so great here!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. No, you're not wrong, if you let the boss catch you at the end he dies laughing; however if you kill him the "hard" way you get one of the game's secret bonus points.
ah, that makes sense, because when I played this a long time ago, I accidentally got grabbed by the old man, and I thought I was a gonner...but then he blew up. :) Thanks for clearing that up for me.
I got it on VC too, the only difference I've found is that some of the audio is different; but that's the same for all MegaDrive games on VC. If this isn't what you mean, could you clarify - detail - the difference.
I've haven't played DH that much recently either, been too busy with playing Mario Galaxy here and there. My collection of Videogame videos have gotten left behind by the animation ones; I'll have to find another level/game to play and upload.
About the "evolving": Oh, I had a grunch that it wouldn't register. My bad.
About the sound: Oh, so that's what you meant! I ALWAYS read videos descriptions, but when I reach the end of the video, I forget. Sorry about it then.
Well, calm down. The magic that is Tool Assistance on emulators made it look like I was perfect (not really). But still. It's true, I actually am a good player at Sonic the Hedgehog, and you actually are a good player at DH.
I missed the first Sonic, since my Megadrive was the one that came with Sonic 2. So as far as 1 is concerned, I have little to no idea where anything is - first time I really gave it a proper go was on Sonic Mega Collection - which would make what you're doing very hard for me. Even with slowdown and restarts you still have to know where things are in the game to even have a change to do this sort of thing.
Boy, you got that right. Despite the fact that there are slowdowns and savestates, you really do need to know about what to do next in that challenge.
Err yeah, sorry if you didn't know this but while you can shoot him when he's just standing there, it doesn't actually register as damage until he's finished, which is why I didn't bother (however I did shoot him at 2:21 and if you look at his spotlight it doesn't change until after the parts of Man-Face disappear). And I did mention that the sound jumps every how and then in the info box.
whoa thats impressive-this was one of the few mega drive games i never completed just coz it's so hard, i kept failing at this level, only ever got past it once-and died instantly on that headdy wonderland robot with one life left-gutted
Anyway well done :) completing it without gettin hit at all is almost impossible-i played it on a rom and i still cant complete it!!!!
Thanks, and yes this game has some tough bosses; Wonderland's Gatekeeper robot especially.
Even though I've been playing this game on and off since it came out - and have gotten rather good at it - I still have one level where I'm almost certain to be hit every time: level 9-2 Far Trek.
Third form: Souther from Hokuto no Ken. Final form: Dr. Gero from DBZ.

As I said to an earlier poster, if you let the boss catch you at the end he dies laughing.
You can get damaged from him if you fly into him just after he lets you go but before he explodes, but yeah, the grab itself doesn't hurt Headdy.
starlac 3 years ago
The problem with this is that it's what's-his-name inside who dies and you miss the secret bonus point.

starlac, why does Boss-features fade at 0:40 when you're clearly hitting him/it?
Segaman19 3 years ago
Video rendering issue, the codec is mixing the frames where the boss is visible and invisible, creating that transparent effect.

Very good. You know, you can hit him when he is just standing there, "evolving". But this is still a good run.
And, was it just me, or did the presenter say, at the end:
