People keep saying this song is underrated...do people not like it as much? I just recently bought the Wilco A.M. album and this was my favorite song on it, and figured it'd be favored by many. It's hard to believe people don't hold this song in high esteem.
Love this song as well. They have only ever played it a handful of times and only about 3-4 in the last 10 years. I dont know for sure but I've always thought it had something personel to do with Jeff and Jay. Also have a bootleg where a girl in the crowd yells out for it and Jeff says something like "yeah...if I wanted to put everyone to sleep...." This vid is from a Chicago Riviera show where they decided to play EVERYTHING they ever did in a 5 night stand.
When I say "between Jeff and Jay"" ,Its Farrar. An experience they had on a plane together, maybe during the final days of UT. I know you are telling the other guys that Bennett didn't play it on AM, gotcha Prior to the Chicago shows 3 years ago, Tweedy only ever played it once, just him and Bennett on Steel. They've played every single Wilco song live at least 10 times cept for this one. Jeff, I guess feels that its simply not relevant in any context anymore. God I loved the old Wilco so much.

The song is about being scared that your plane is gonna crash & then being thankful when you finally touch down.
