2009 tundra with the Trd package and hauling package also it's the 4 door im guessing crew cab i don't really no but I like the Supercharger I need to have it haha
Bet it gets terrible fuel economy, 550lbs of torque is impressive but same could be achieved with a Turbo Diesel Truck, Ford seems to get the message with their twin turbo V6 in their F-150's makes 420lbs of torque with regular unleaded fuel and 22mpg highway, hopely toyota considers a turbo truck.
@FloridaSPL A turbo seems a better option, since it works from the exuast fumes and not from the cranckshaft, it recycles energy that be otherwise be lost. Only if there was somekind of clutch system on the supercharger do it'd only used when needed.
@FloridaSPL Right you are. Not to mention diesels polute so much more. They are better than the older ones yes, but still not as clean as a gas engine. Not to mention the price of diesel is way more!
@KyleCook6 Your full of diesel soot! Gas is always cleaner than diesel. Do some research. Even the cleanest diesels require urea (urine) injection just so that they can pass emissions. Gas engines do not need them.
If you not wash your car or truck for 2 weeks you see the black soot on the back.
This is a Toyota TRD supercharger built for Toyota vehicles. As the video description mentions, it can be installed on a Toyota Sequoia (which is a large SUV).
hey guys, my tundra surges while Im driving and toyota says its normal, wtf??? Is there a fix for this? Im afraid it will cause me too have an accident and Im afraid too drive it. Any help PLEASE
We're sorry to hear about the problems you're having. We can't diagnose your issue on the computer. We recommend that you take your vehicle to a different dealer and get the problem fixed soon.
The vehicle's engine computer will adjust the timing and injector pulse to run, but at a loss of fuel mileage and horsepower. Over a long period of time, engine damage may result.
@RocknRollCoal "Detonation city" I would assume. The only difference in a higher octane makes is that the fuel is won't ignite so easily until it's the right time, it's additives in the gasoline to prevent engine knock or worse, that's all.
Out if curiosity, I've installed the TRD charger on my '07 CM and I still off road with the truck.....if I off road my truck, would the TRD Rear Sway Bar kit give me less wheel travel or??? Just trying to see if it might not be worth my effort lol. Thanks!
Most likely yes. But if you disconnect your swaybar end-links when you're off-road then you will have no loss of suspension travel. The TRD sway bar is designed to make your truck handle better on asphalt, not in the mud.
The flash from Toyota takes care of all of this. Of course, you can't customize it though. There are companies who will reflash your ecm if you send it to them.
@FloridaSPL...ok I have a brilliant red truck like the one you are working on...it has all the trd accessories...big brakes, performance suspension, and trd exhaust! I am buying the supercharger for my truck but need to find a dealer with experience installing the system...I was planning on taking it to Longo Toyota even though it is 2 hours from my home...do you know of a dealership in California that has extensive experience installing this item? Thanks for your response!!!
We would recommend that you call the dealer and ask to speak to the technician. Have a conversation about the install and get a feel for his confidence or if he's installed one before. If he's seen our video, then you're safe. (you'll know that he's internet savvy and was smart enough to look for tips and tricks to perform the job correctly.)
You can't install the Tundra charger on your 4runner, but Toyota did make a supercharger for your truck. You'll have to pick one up used if you want one.
Toyota used to make a TRD supercharger kit for the Tundra with a 4.7, but now you'll have to find one used on the internet. STS makes a turbo kit though (Part# SBC-580124).
I would love to get a post '99/2000 model SC430, rip out the 4.3liter and drop in a 5.7liter tundra motor with the supercharger (if there is enough room under the room) and a 6speed manual transmission. Now that is a lexus SC that I would love to drive.
This Guys cool. Hes stoked about hopping up a truck, but not overdoing it like a couple of the piss poor actors on the truck shows. I like how he dumbs stuff down w/o being condescending. Not to be a video critic, but nicely done. Keep up the good work.
i think that its still available because they both use the exact same 5.7 V8 engine. it probably just isnt showing up in the accessories for the tundra
@fj60driver Toyota warranty work pays great, but factory accessories like this definitely have conservative labor times. Not my boss, nor the customers for that matter, have any concept of the miracles we perform in the shop every day, just to pull something better than a decent paycheck.
buzz, i have a 2010 crewmax and am extremely interested in the trd sc. i have a flex fuel truck but do not run ethanol. i was told by the service manager that the only difference with the ff trucks are the fuel lines.
I don't think you're going to like the answer, but Toyota doesn't offer a computer flash for your ECU. You need a non FF 5.7. Bummer, I know. Corn is not for engines, it's for Coca cola.
@FloridaSPL That does suck. Do you think it is a permanent thing? Because Diablo etc doesn't even have tuners for the 07+ 5.7's yet. Just wondering if there will be a separate tune for the FF ECU when they do come out.
that supercharger is tiny , and the truck is like soo small , lol joke , its america and everything has to be a 1000 x the normal size ( including the people )

This guy is a meathead, no way should you work on the fuel system without first removing the fuel pump relay/fuse and cranking the engine over a couple of times to relieve the system of pressure.
haha guy looks pissed off while he narrates good vid! im curious though do you need to do a exhaust upgrade becuase of the boost from supercharger? wouldn't want to blow the gaskets?
I think that the platform is perfect for a supercharger because of the power to weight ratio and short wheel base. Plus toyota reliability, just because its a small cheap car doest mean its a peice of shit . Every car made by toyota is going to have similar build quality, as its the same company. The engine in the yaris is the gas engine from the $20k prius.the only reason i wouldnt do it is because its kind of ugly, i just bought it as a cheap car for college, ill save my cash and by a GTO
I thought your supposed to beef up internals with super/turbochargers. I have a yaris and I was thinking of putting one in myself to save money. Does having an auto trans make that a bad idea.
This kit is designed by Toyota to be safe with the stock engine. If we were to add more boost or a shot of methanol/nitrous we would need to beef up the internals. Auto trans has no bearing on the supercharger/turbo. But if you're not running a kit designed for your car, you'll need to have it professionally tuned on a dyno.
"pull that sucker out and sell it on e-bay". lol....im happy to see this guy hyped up for a demo. makes me wanna do things to my car...most demos r bland...
Theoretically, more horsepower will give you better fuel economy. But most of the time, you end up using the vertical pedal on the right more often. So it's all about how you drive.
hey vary nice video about the supercharger. i like to know if you can make a video about the 2005-2008 corolla 1.8L 1ZZ-FE engine TRD supercharger. man i got a lot of people who would pay to watch that video and myself.

@5959512 you would need to get a 3rd party aftermarket supercharger, as TRD makes none for the Yaris. They do sell a CAI for it, though.
Battlemaster00 2 years ago
yea that is kind of a shitty idea sorry i asked
5959512 2 years ago
I hope that is sarcasm. You can supercharge your lawnmower if you want. Don't listen to the nay-sayers. Do it!

I thought your supposed to beef up internals with super/turbochargers. I have a yaris and I was thinking of putting one in myself to save money. Does having an auto trans make that a bad idea.
5959512 2 years ago
This kit is designed by Toyota to be safe with the stock engine. If we were to add more boost or a shot of methanol/nitrous we would need to beef up the internals. Auto trans has no bearing on the supercharger/turbo. But if you're not running a kit designed for your car, you'll need to have it professionally tuned on a dyno.

you want to supercharge a yaris? A FUCKING YARIS!??!!? lmao its not worth it man...

Miguelcoolio 2 years ago
The engine computer will retard the timing and it will lose power. The check engine light will come on, and it will run like poo.

DAEHOIDAR111 2 years ago
probably an arm and a leg. you might also need to sell your liver (at least 1/2), and a kidney.

It is about 9 hours of labor.

what do superchargers do for gas mileage?
3DUARDO57 2 years ago
Theoretically, more horsepower will give you better fuel economy. But most of the time, you end up using the vertical pedal on the right more often. So it's all about how you drive.

hey vary nice video about the supercharger. i like to know if you can make a video about the 2005-2008 corolla 1.8L 1ZZ-FE engine TRD supercharger. man i got a lot of people who would pay to watch that video and myself.
