what animals? we worship ganesh, hanuman is symbolic for prana, the life breath. Siva rides on a cow so hindus find that sacred. I dont know why some sects worship rats, i will admit, some of the hindus interpret things wrong, but please, point out to me a religion that doesn't have members who do the same, there is nothing wrong with hindus, and so far, to me hinduism has created every other religion, i mean Jesus wasn't a christian and Bhudda wasn't a Bhuddist.

When he destroys due to the naked truth he is then called Rudra, his mayic manifestation, it is mixed that way because people worship him mainly through rudra and the linga, so people mixed up calling Rudra Shiva but true Shiva, which to the Shaivittes, is pretty much Brahman confiming what you said with Shiva coming in the form of Vishnu and Brahma.
