So Chris says that the idea of freedom doesn't work.  Maybe he's right. We make everyone who serves in the a government position raise their right hands and swear (or affirm) to support and defend the constitution..(why?). Yet it means nothing and we have somehow become okay with it meaning nothing. We need a rule of law to follow, if we all decide that the rule of law needs updated, then we amend it, then follow it. but we should Always follow it How is this complicated?

@VotePaineJefferson oh yes, total freedom for corperations to work the average citizen like a dog, what did you think the labour unions fought for over the past 100 years. In total freedom, private militaries, private police, private education and private healthcare would do wonders for the vast majority of the poor in the US. The problem with the country is a lack of reglation for those on top, not a lack of freedom.

@AlternateArtisan Um, no it isn't? If banks and corporations were allowed to fail instead of being bailed out with tax payer dollars, we wouldn't be in this mess. Billion dollar bailouts funded with taxpayer dollars isn't free market capitalism my friend. It's the opposite.

I see no conflict between supporting a specific union and individual liberty. Corporations are not individuals.

@VotePaineJefferson if banks weren;t 'deregulated' in the first place we wouldn't even have this problem. Despite the bailout, these banks still don't have anyone holding their leashes. what the government should have done after the bailout is to reintroduce tighter control on banks, not just let them walk offf and do the same thing all over again.
