When fly lets say across the Pacific from say Seattle to Japan, planes will fly hundreds of miles north sometimes past the arctic circle because I don't know if you know this the earth is round and its smaller up there and its faster to go around a smaller piece of land than a giant ocean. so the straight line isn't faster at all. Actually, if you've ever been on a long plane flight, the path the pilot took would not have been a straight line if you drew it on a flat map of the earth, it would be a geodesic, which would bend slightly to the north. This is because on a curved surface like the earth, the shortest distance between two points is not a straight line, in fact you can't even really define a straight line properly.

@gorilla199 I wish you would read Einstein's work before you attempt (and fail I'm afraid) to debunk it. Although it can be presented in the written word it is actually a mathematical theory. It makes quantifiable predictions about the orbits of satellites and planets and binary stars that have been confirmed literally dozens of times. Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean its not true. You probably don't understand the theory of electromagnetism (nor do I), but it is correct.

Airplanes don´t actually fly in straight line, they follow the curve of the earth otherwise they would hit the groung:) The 2d flat space diagram is only to make things simpler to understand, of course in reality it is bent in 3d, well 4d if you take time as a dimension. This doesn´t mean God didn´t create it all mind, unravelling the foundations of reality isn´t a sin after all.

@gorilla199 Buy a globe, and try to draw the shortest curve you can between two points that are far apart, like NYC and Seattle. I guarantee you you'll have to go through Canada, and the line will look far from straight on a map. The shortest curve between two points on a sphere, like the Earth, is an arc of the circle containing them with its center at the center of the Earth. If the points are close together, it will look like a straight line, but if they're far apart, it won't.

Our universe has 3 spatial dimensions, 1 temporal dimension, and we exist within the confines of these 4 dimensions. We move forward in time, and any direction we want in the spatial dimensions. Answer me this; how can we exist and travel in something that does not exist? Spacetime is real.

And if I ever see someone teleported across a lake without using a scientifically engineered teleportation device, I'll give the Bible another look. Until then I'm going to assume that the Bible is not a literal document of actual events. Anything that describes the world as a circle, a whale as a fish, and says the universe was created in 6 days is OBVIOUSLY not a wholly accurate work.
