And I agree with you jalive25. Well said. As an American, I was introduced to Mr. Benn from the movie Sicko. He has since been a tremendous influence on me and some of my friends. This is especially true now that we have lost Howard Zinn in this country, another tireless advocate for peace and human rights.

I agree with currentslacker. Tony worries me in this video. I feel like his health is waning.  We must appreciate him to the highest while he's still here with us. They don't make men like Tony Benn anymore. His words speak volumes, and the world needs to listen at this crucial moment in human history.

@jalive25 This kind of passive attitude is exactly what will make our society worse. Why are old men the only people who are speaking out?

Benn is 85. As ever, he speaks powerfully but he has no ability to change anything. We lose more freedoms every year and people still go along with it. The banks lost our money and the government just gave them more to lose. Students don't protest now because they've got huge debts to pay and are desperate to find a house to live in. We are losing.

Just once it would be good to hear one of these speakers answer some questions.

How many 100s of 1000s of people lost their rights & freedoms because they publicly said no to war?

How does one measure the cost of war?

I hate to point out this is not only innacurate but piffle. Rights are not lost by defending or objecting to wars. Rights are rights. The govenment withdrew active rights to 'protect the society', no society is protected by such actions.
