  • Pure and fearsomely sexy at the same time. Hard to resist loving her.

  • ethereal perfection

  • Never better..Love you Joan! Can't wait to see you in a couple of weeks!! One more thing off my bucket list

  • i really like joan baez but this song was written by bob dylan.

normally i prefer bob dylan but this version is far better sang by joan :P

  • I can't believe how this cuts off (amidst applause), before she's even finished the song!

  • "A Girlfriend of my youth was gone,... she was born 1966. She is named Angelina...."

    In the Love of Jesus,

    Hesekiel

  • Suprb, sincere and Liberating! An excellent antidote to the crass commercialism and uncaring of Today!!

  • Pour toujours Joan Baez a été, est, et sera la plus grande

  • WHERE WHERE WHERE do you get'm!?!??!?!??!?!??!

  • .....this is the amazingly stunning girl I met in London.....remember those years...Grosvenor Suare protests, the Round House and the summer of love....and sadly we have all become old grey and middle class!!

  • The whole song would've been nice!

  • @MrAprilsmay I thnk they cut the part of the song which is explicit against war

  • wunderbar,

    max

  • Like it! Ilove it! Brings back memories.

  • sooo nice........ love it

  • Her face is so beautiful ...

  • Another reason why I love youtube. I have never seen or heard Joan Baez's original stuff before this. Thank you. I think this is an awesome song, and will most likely play this song at an open stage.

  • This song is a cover, it's originally by Bob. She covered a lot of his stuff, and wrote 'Diamonds and Rust' about him, my favourite song by her.

  • She sings without apparent effort - but what comes out is just amazing - and long may cover songs, what's wrong with that?

  • hi were are you from

  • I'm in Hertfordshire in the UK - and you?

  • Yeah, its incredible, very complicated chords on the guitar and the power of her voice but it seems so serene and effortless. Sign of true talent I suppose?

  • Actually she wrote "Sweet Sir Galahad" and "Diamonds & Rust", two of the best songs ever written. Besides, her covers are sometimes better than the originals.

  • she has such a beautiful voice, beautiful face, and amazing personality, she is successful without having to write her own songs...so blah! P.S. and also the songs she did write were beautiful.

  • If you would know her a little better, you would know that she has written songs on her own. Don't talk if you don't know, it sucks!

  • @janaherde i like her she has a great voice but she has done so many dylan songs and she even stole one of his songs love is just a four letter word

  • @BobDylanFan1966 Joanie never had to steal anyone's song. When she sang it it became a song everyone wanted to hear and sing. Bob wrote she sang, a great combination. She always was one of the best out there and still is.

  • @slowpokecat That is right!

  • @BobDylanFan1966 Idiots never die

  • @DyannJaxon i never said anything bout idiots

  • This is so good!

  • I meet her in 1982 in south germany.

This day i am her Taxi Driver from the Hotel to the hall there(Where) she give the concert!

I am really proud for the autogramm on my "old grey driving lizens"

    She is wunderfull.

  • Aaaah, the days in Potties, NTvl

  • How come she was as beautiful as her voice

  • Toujours aussi belle à voir et à entendre!

  • En effet, Joan est sublime.

    En version française sur Youtube:

Nana Mouskouri - Adieu Angélina 1967

  • it's so beutiful

  • really???

    :D

    can you elaborate on that????

  • @eleanor7rigby

I don't remember what I said, and now it has been thumbed down, so I can't see it. What did i say that you are commenting on?

  • Why not the full song....???

  • Joan Baez is more beautiful now than ever: she has experience and character in her face but still lovely!

  • why did they start clapping before she finnished?

  • Perhaps in 1966 they hadn't heard of bootleg videos being posted on YouTube?

  • not heard this in years, takes me back to happier times, stunning.

  • hi dave47 where you from ?

  • hi jean0009able, i'm from cheshire. i take it your from ireland.

  • its 11pm and everything is shit in ireland ,the song and her voice is keeping me sane ,

  • Did you not know Ireland has the highest living standard of any country in the world, all things taken in to account. Switzerland is hot on the heels.

    Mike

  • yes they live us English

  • Excuse me?

  • @EffortsatImprov

That's curious, because we have a big new wave of immigrants from Ireland fleeing the current economic circumstances - the most recent diaspora.

The 90s were great, but contemporary times less so it seems. [Australia]

  • My data is circa 2005/2006

  • Thanks. Haven't heard this in 35 years. Just beautiful. The older I get the more spiritual her music becomes to me.

  • True!!

  • I love her sweet voice .FANTASTIC.

  • Me Too ! Ngay Cach Biet toan than Em bi Te Liet ..

  • ABSOLUTELY AMAZING

  • May I ask where can I get a video of this? I'd like to get one. Thanks.

  • I love that voice. Don't get this kind of quality now a days.

  • Yes you do ... from Joan Baez, she's not dead yet. Still gigging and I saw her in Manchester UK some months ago - brought me to tears when she sang Diamonds and Rust.

    Mike

  • name a film that song was in.?

  • Ronaldo and Clara ? dunno, more ino listening to Joan on CD and record and going to her gigs.

  • sorry song was 'Diamonds and Rust' Very good film with this in it. What film.

  • Look I don't know, are you going to tell me then stop hassling me?

  • Film was Eulogy, sorry didn't mean to hassle you.

  • Absolutely fantastic...

  • superb videos of Joan Baez from her early 20-s to 25 years old. That clear voice and her performance ..... absolutely fantastic

  • An American gem, I love when Joan sings Dylan, sorry Bob.

  • Sweet...I saw Joan baez in concert in Florence 1970...I remember clearly she sang this...

  • Tiene la misma voz que Lourline de los Simpsons xD

  • QUE IGNORANTE ERES.

  • It's amazing that this wasn't good enough to make it Bob Dylan's 1965 album, he never did put on any of his albums, except the bootlegs

  • "Fifty-two gypsies now pass by the guard." That line gave me chills then as now.

  • Oh, Joan! How I adored you from the first, when I had this album (with the "honest" photo on the cover. I was just sixteen. Thank you for this. Just lovely. I weep a bit for those times, and for the boy I once was.

  • This is so beautiful!

  • Joan Baez - a name that for us musicians and composers lingers in our mind as long as there is senses sustaining..

    Thank for your music Joan

  • Cohen, where are you? I'm trying to find you. Marie

  • Joan Baez ruled radio during the middle 60's. Dylan knew it.

When Q. Jones called for artist to record "We are the World" he didn't include Baez. If anyone belonged there, it was Baez, not Dylan.

  • grainofsandfan , I agree 100% with you !

  • no agree to you, Joan is a wonderful singer but no author, Dylan does and one of most important.Anyway i think she must be there

  • Still in love with her, after so many years.

  • Only one thing to say: BEAUTIFUL!

  • Angelic ......

    Beautiful then .... beautiful now.

  • Joan U are Super...

  • lol she has my last name... cool ;] and wierd.. but still pretty cool!

  • Love it!!!!

  • cant find better that this angel voice...sweet joan Beaz..

U will always be the best ever...

  • Hey Everybody Joan isn't just good at covering songs. Some of her best work in my opinion is her own:

    Prison Trilogy

    Sweet Sir Galahad

    Diamonds and Rust

    Love Song to a Stranger

    Honest Lullaby

All The Weary Mothers of the Earth

    etc.

Love Joan Baez she is a beautiful singer AND songwriter!

  • all the weary mothers and to bobby are my absolute favourites

  • There were never pigs around. She just got my motor running.

  • Joan Baez ,ademas de cantar maravillosamente es bella ,inteligente culta y sensible...Se puede ser más???

  • She's beautiful...

  • joan baez is the best woman singer of the world!!

  • Baez voice and Bob Dylan are just fantastic.

  • Can someone who is bred to this kind of music to remain neutral even after all these years of listening to Baez.?

  • Beautiful voice!!

  • Beautiful Dylan poetry

  • Can anybody help me to find the song about the revolt in the prison of Attica in 1971 ? Only I know the refrain : Attica, Attica, Attica. Don't know how sings it nor who wrote that song .

  • I think it's "Attica", by Spear Of Destiny.

Or, Try with "somewhere in New York" album By John Lennon

  • Los cerdos no pueden entender a las flores

  • Beautiful voice. Nonesense words.

  • la voix s'est un peu domestiquée, elle bêle moins, quant au texte c'est du suréalisme dylanesque admirable.

  • Bonita voz!

  • It says "once see Napels i may di

When I once may see Baez live I may die

    Sorry for my bat Englisch

    Gr from Flanders

  • Divina!

  • La chanson ne doi pas être de Joan mais de Donovoan???? qui me renseignera?  MAIS hélas toujours actuelle! Et ce qu'il nous manque le beauté et l'intelligence des textes..;

  • Il est Dylan qui a ecrit la chanson.

  • Man I am 20 years old and I'm envious of those of you who were able to see her at her prime! She is still great today though!

  • Not only does she have a beautiful voice, but she is absolutley STUNNING to look at..what a babe!!

  • poetry helps aou living...

  • She emits this beautiful sound without apparent effort! Joan, you are still the business. Then and now!

  • great, beautiful, clever...Joan!

  • She has the most beautiful voice I ever heard, I have also found her by listening Bob Dylan and I really think they were a wonderful team, very strong personalities, she has an amazing voice, and Dylan is the best songwriter ever lived! That's such a pity they didn't stayed together!

  • Magnificent! They should have more of her songs on youtube.

  • j'adore depuis très longtemps, cette superbe chanson de toi (JOAN BEAZ)

Thank You, will not forget, whewn you cam in Nyon, Festival Switzerland!

    F.

  • she is beautiful

  • She is so phenomenal. I think she and Dylan should have been a team 100% of the time. Dylan is about the best song writer ever, and Baez is about the best singer ever. They made such a good team. They should have been a team every step of the way.

  • She has mexican roots, her father was mexican. Just to let you know more about her.

  • that's actually very interesting. i never thought of it, but rather obvious when you consider her surname.

  • Joan..does this song best..Happy Birthday Joan..and she is still good looking..

  • 9. Januar .. . Joan Chandos Báez ist heute 68 Jahre alt geworden:

    Happy Birthday!

  • i love this song with her voice, which is amazing. i love singers with high pitched voices

  • my mum used to make me listen to joan baez when i was a kid, and i absolutely hated it (more of a monkees fan back then).

but i do quite like her stuff now.

  • maturing has its benefits.

  • well, i still prefer the monkees, but now i can spare a moment for joan baez and really enjoy it.

  • I used to listen to Bob Dylan and my father would say,"That guy can't sing."I said,it's not the way he sings,it's the words he sings.

  • sehr schönes Lied

  • Still one of the most gorgeous, compelling voices in folk music. I was lucky enough to hear her live more than once, including her impromptu tribute to Ginetta Sagan at a Capitol Hill event some years back.

  • can you tell me more about that tribute?

  • Sometime in the 1990s the human rights activist and WWII resistance leader Ginetta Sagan was honored at a nonpartisan Washington, D.C., event attended by various human rights supporters. Among the attendees was Joan Baez. I hadn't even noticed her in the crowd. Someone called on her to sing, and she performed an a capella version of "Gracias a la vida" for Mrs. Sagan. It was a true moment of grace.

  • thank you. I admire both women a lot.

  • The voice that soothes... beautiful song...

  • Images from a bewildering time.

  • we can all dream, and see a world the way it should be, not the way it is.

    love Joan Baez

  • Why did it end so abrubtly?

  • See info at top right hand of page --

Joan Baez sings "Farewell Angelina" (by Bob Dylan) in Stockholm, 1966. Last one and a half verses are sadly cut off.

  • Who the hell is B.O? And don't try and hurt anybody's feeling with words like ''self-serving''. I've heard it all before with this woman. And just admit you enjoyed the song.
