Damn. I broke a bone in my back hitting a C box too fast @ whistler. One of the little bones that look like wings that come off the side of your spine. Sucked. So now I wear a head spine protector. Came in handy skiing glades this year. Caught and edge, slammed into a tree with my back. Hard impact but didn't hurt a bit.

Not true. You can break the ridge things off the bones in your back and it wont come close to your cord. Also, in order to be completely paralyzed you have to damage ALL of the spinal cord. A lot of people break their backs or necks resulting in partial paralysis, but not complete because only part of the cord was damaged.

small correction, it must be connected to that part of the body, for it to be damaged, which is why when you break snap your spinal cord well below arm level it only damages your legs, there for allowing you to breath
