I remember this show!!! I still watch GSN! This is my show, along with Russian Roulette! And I knew that guy looked familiar, because he was the host of Russian Roulette!
Wasn't there an episode where one team didn't score at all in the bonus round? and an episode where two guys at the end got all the questions right and doubled the cash?!
What a complete waste of $5000. Oh yeah, I've seen clips of a British show called "Golden Balls", which has the same endgame as "Friend or Foe". I think someone should either revive "FoF", or import "GB". That would make me very happy.
It's a basic dilemma. If you go Friend, you get half the money or nothing, if you go Foe, you get all the money or nothing. So it's definitely a test of how greedy you are, yes.
It's called the Prisoner's Dilemma. It's rather interesting to me. I've seen some very amazing teams go friends. It's so funny! They're like "OMG I LOVE YOU."
the problem with this version of prisoner's dilemma is that there is absolutely no benefit to you picking friend. If your opponent picked foe, you are getting nothing no matter what. They should make this show more like the real prisoner's dilema by having them split $500 if they both picked foe or something.
No, the benefit to picking friend is you get half the money as long as your opponent picked friend. I think it's set up pretty well.
Pick friend = You get half the money if they pick friend, you get nothing if they pick foe.
Pick foe = You get all the money if they pick friend, you get nothing if they pick foe.
2 options get you nothing, 2 give you money. Although I think maybe they should expand things - such as each person has to officially say what they will pick beforehand, and if they lie
they receive some kind of consequence. Excluding both picking foe as there's no money to take away, if you end up with 1 friend, 1 foe, and both said they would choose friend, the one who chose foe only gets 1/2 or 3/4 of the money instead. Or maybe the one who picked friend and was honest gets 1/4th of the money. To make it even more interesting, maybe you could receive a reward if you claim you'll pick foe, but choose friend instead - but not if both people choose friend. Just some ideas.
I remember this show. Everyone always voted foe. It got predictable towards the end of the first season.

It's all about game theory. It is in ones best interest to go foe.
