know what a slightly easier way is? just put tracks around your home, then set boosters here and there, so that it keeps going around, then it will pick up any mobs that touch it, or just fill it up with a hole bunch of minecarts

and as you apperently don't know is that a Beta version of a game is a stage of completion.

I think it was something like indevelopment=0-40%, Alpha=40-60%, Beta=60-100%.

after that it is a real game.

but Minecraft is in it's beta. most Games only have closed beta acces meaning a selecten few get to try/test it and give feedback. Minecraft has an Open-beta, so acces for everyone. The REAL release date is around 11-11-11 notch said.
