  • This technique has worked SO well for me. I am 18 now, and over the past few years I have really just lost hope in trying to become flexible (relatively new to dance). But this helped so much! My ballet teacher used to push me in my lessons until I felt like I was going to die from the pain, and then I was expected to do the same at home, and I just couldn't! And I would get REALLY sore. But the little breaks inbetween makes it easy and I can do it every day! Have progressed so much more now!!

  • Im in cheerleading ( MY COACH DOESNT MAKE YOU DO THIS ) But most girls can so i decided to try, i just did 20 of each, and im sore. # OUTOFSHAPE.

  • When I was 10 (I'm 12 now) I used to be able to jump and then jump into the splits without stopping. And boy I went all the way downnnnnn. Now I can't even do it :/ what changed.

  • 1 week, minimum practice and learnt to do them 10 mins ago :D :D it can take much longer, just keep on going. I think i managed to do them in such a short time because i have flexible joints and was able to do them years before too

  • I learnt to do them today! just keep practsing splits and you will be able to do it:)

  • i didnt know how to strech for the splits properly so it took me 7 months!!!!! to get them now i can do over splits and the splits :) this will help more with siting on the ground and opoping out :) i kinda can but need more praticie :) awesome video thanks! :)

  • Word of advice do a thorough research on legs splits before u actually attempt it,because if u tear a hamstring muscle-God help you! on average 3 to 6 months or maybe years to achieve full splits depends on your already existing level of flexibility and how often you practice! it took me 3 years to get into the splits and i practiced about 3 times a week - my schedule didnt allow for everyday- if it did i would have achieved it much faster .

  • How long does it take to achieve a split: depends on your own body

    Some people can already do splits without ever actually aiming for a split or little stretching

    When I was 8 it took me a year to ALMOST get a split! As you get older - your muscles lose its elasticity

    I'm far from a split now ...

  • listen i have a little problem with 1:15 that pose when i try to pose myself like that i just fall on the side i can't balance without my arms but when i was younger i didn't have that problem i'm 15 now btw

  • @Godofwar8635 it will take you a couple weeks to achieve the splits. ask any dancer, they are something that will not happen overnight AT ALL.

  • Wow this video really helps. Thank you so much ! The stretches really helped and i am normally very stiff because of all the sports i do but after doing these stretches i was not stiff at all and i could fully do the splits both ways ! :D

  • when i was younger i was the worst student in sports, now i'm the best. i started dancing (Tanzmariechen) and practised the splits a.s.o. by my own. i made it, and you can too! keep on working :)

  • i used to be a ballet when i was 4 but my parents took me off of my ballet class because no one can pick me up or drop me up. so sad!!! i could do that but it hurts. but i do not have my splits yet. SSO FRUSTRATING!!!

  • @marlneish maybe you are opening your leg way too much and it closes, or other posiblity is that you are using pants that slide really easily

  • @6383MOMO i know , i take dance class and even if you are flexible you still shouldnt do the splits without stretching (you could pull a muscle)

  • This is sort of an update.. I've been doing these exercises and i've been SO sore. I hope that's a good sign it's working, but definitely a tip : Don't go past the 10 seconds.. or you'll overstretch and do more harm than good.

  • @sweetlilianar i practiced every day twice for 20 mins, and it took me about a week. I could do it before, but I didn't do the splits for ages so I lost it. I think I got it quicker because I had my splits before. When learing before, it took me about 3 weeks. I only practiced once a day though. The main thing is not to give up!

  • If you can't even get halfway down, how do you hold yourself up while you push through the stretch? I can't get down far enough to have a hand on either side of me.

  • @Sectumsemprist Do the first exercises for a few weeks and you should be able to go down far enough to try the last part ;)

  • For those who is saying they can't do it, it's okay you will soon get it don't give up! Some takes longer than others. J start small if you hurt so bad and then work up to getting the flexibility for the splits. Remember: Never go too far or else u will pull a muscle.

    To get your left leg straight when you are about to do a split in the back or front make a straight line and align your legs with the line that works for me then bounce it loosens the muscles and get you to get lower i did that and I can do a full split in just 3 weeks do then every other day.
