YES, Windows has got to load tons of services,

where the old Mac OS was minimalistic (=good)

The old Mac was programmed at the limits of the art of programming back in the days these Guys were able to do MAGIC with so little resources!

Today Services n Programs are made with Authoring-Software, they are not programmed they are put together by DRAG N DROP... that is why today's software is more

bloated with program-code, takes more time to load, more space on the hdd.

I like this video... nothing against Mac or windows but this is exactly why I run Linux when possible. my netbook can match that macs boot time almost exactly :) computers would be so fast today if the software wasn't keeping up with the hardware in terms of available/required speed.

Im really no expert, but Vista should be a far more complex system than Mac OS 1, thus booting it should take longer time. Although the analogy is correct, under 3 decades we should have managed to build computers that start up faster. But instead we built some that don't need to be turned off (laptops).

First thing is where the systems are placed. On mac in rom, in PC on HDD.

Second thing is size of system. In mac can't be in memory larger than 128k, vista need much more memory.

And third thing is matching to hardware. Vista runs only on super speed computers, Mac's system was made for it.

Are we actually comparing a mac with an basic operating system that is only a few kilobytes in size to windows Vista?!? Just for the record the vista machine is running very slow. Since its a off the shelve model it's probably worth noting that it likely has an anti-virus doing a prescan before windows boots along with all the other usless crap it is probably loading. Clean it out and it will boot in something closer to 30 seconds. Also note even a modern Mac can take serveral mins to load

Why the hell does this matter? Boot screens? Big fucking deal. You're comparing a 1984 to a 2007 computer. Do you realize how idiotic that is? The computer on the left can do much, way way, better things than the mac to the right can. It takes longer to boot because IT DOES MORE IMPORTANT THINGS. The Mac is next to useless and loads nothing but a crappy GUI, the floppy, and some boot files. What the hell does boot time matter anyway?
