I don't agree with "designer" babies idea. Parents should embrace how their child looks like and are. For example, how would it make you feel if your girlfriend has the ability to change you into the "dream" boyfriend and actually did it. you'd feel like she doesn't like you for who you are, wouldn't you? You'd feel like maybe if another person was as good looking as that, he'd replace you. HOWEVER, for avoiding birth defects, im all for it.

In any event, it's wrong for the same reasons regardless of which group does it. Like the clitoral hood it's there for a reason; you don't mess with it unless the penis is in danger of falling off.

Doctors are considered scientists to many. And many, almost 95% of doctors are either Deists, Atheists, or Agnostic. All those have serious doubt/Total Disbelief towards god. So ethnics aren't a big deal to doctors. Moral, on the other hand are a different story.

The only way this sort of thing benefits the people at large is if the higher-ups get it first. They can't just make something like that affordable to everyone at once, but the further the field goes the more accessible it will become on a wider scale.

I don't agree with "designer" babies idea. Parents should embrace how their child looks like and are. For example, how would it make you feel if your girlfriend has the ability to change you into the "dream" boyfriend and actually did it. you'd feel like she doesn't like you for who you are, wouldn't you? You'd feel like maybe if another person was as good looking as that, he'd replace you. HOWEVER, for avoiding birth defects, im all for it.

I think that the ability to get rid of genetic diseases is great and should be looked into further, however being able to genetically alter a child to be a certian way will likely get majorly abused in the future, likely to the point that everyone ends up being exactly the same.
The main reason I'm against it for the 'designer babies' thing is that I could easily see a country creating a bunch of genetically altered soldiers in order to start a pointless war.

God is not an idiot, I want you to design a human with no prior knowledge of what a human is even supposed to look like. If the nerve endings weren't on the skin, you wouldn't know when you are being burned. Modifying a baby is changing what god decided humans are supposed to be. The human body is SO amazing, changing it at all is like an insult (i.e gluttonous behavior. Overeating for you slow ones :D)
