Brilliant footage!! Is there any of this footage near Ardnahoe? My granduncle worked for 7 years for a farmer in the bogs in Ardnahoe around this time. From Donegal, Ireland
Just stumbled onto your site. Great work. Funny we just had my Dad's 85th birthday. He was from Port Wemyss and I spent many wonderful summers there. Hello to all who remember Donald Macdonald and Rona. Greetings from Canada!

Do you know that one of your relatives appears in the videos...Islay 1948 - People About: Part 2 of 4 at 3m-21s. Is it Hugh? I'll check on that! He is making a fishing rod.
My mother Mary Millar was born in Port Weymmes we spent every summer there , an awesome place that is so close to my heart, I have been lucky enough to visit again recently and things haven't changed too much, I do remember a a child carrying water from the fresh water well the "beenyuk"obviously not the gaelic for it but thats how its pronounced in English.Regards to all in Islay
