  • Read the NHTSA testing procedures. Can't find any reference as to why the driver side curtain airbags are disabled. It's certainly not so that the driver can be visible. Why choose to see the driver dummy, and not the passenger dummy? Why provide more protection for the passenger's in the test than the driver? Great performance by the car. Poor testing procedures by the NHTSA.

  • The driver's side curtain airbag didn't deploy, but the passenger side, did. Side curtain airbag deployment during a frontal crash is usual for a Honda Fit.

  • @jchasp You woudn't be able to see the dummy if they used it.

  • how fast was it going? I ask because the airbags up front are dual threshold airbags.

  • @edyken77 35 mph - those airbags went off as hard as they're ever going to.

  • pretty safe for a car like this

  • wow, not bad

  • @drumzstix666 yeah look at it crashing with the honda accord it gets a poor rating and when is anyone ever going too crash into a flat brick wall with metal behind it.

  • 0:10 - ouch

  • what's so ouch

  • all of those airbags - that would be painful. the SAC didn't deflate.

  • look @ that front left wheel

  • the wheels are pushed out so there is more room for the engine

  • The speed doesn't look fast

  • it's 35 mph and all the other views are slow motion; if you want a proper crash test and proper rating system, look at euroncap. proof that this car is safe (at least for it's class) is that it gets 5 stars not only from nhtsa but euroncap as well

  • and the best pick in iihs XD

  • @alexkvaskov this car gets a poor rating crashing into another car how is that safe. when is anyone going to crash into a damn brick wall with stell o rmetal behind it. if you drove this car and got into a front crash you would be seeing alot more damage

  • @pattycarljackson congratulations on replying to a year old comment FAIL

first of all, it does well in the iihs front offset which is much more realistic test. second in the test you refer to, the accord is much heavier and you can't change the laws of physics - a small car will always fare poorly against a large one. you should see how the yaris crumples like a soda can whereas the fit's pillar and door are more or less intact

  • @pattycarljackson this car has an NCAP 5 star rating the highest it goes

  • why did they take the boot lid out

  • ya... I wonder why.... Maybe they put the electronic stuff there?

  • 5 stars?

  • yep
