I remember playing this years ago, I was in 2nd place on the last lap at Oulton Park, had a huge train of cars behind me, and James Thompson took me out at Fosters (I think I was in a Nissan) and I came home in 12th! Bloody Thompson.

I hate racing at Knockhill. That's where my championship push used to go tits up. I battled with those chicanes after the first turn with the wicked kerbs and always tried to gingerly go through there, but the goddamn AI drivers just shunt me up the arse there and off the track.

I like the fact that in this game all of the BTCC cars have different engine sounds and that compared to the real onboard sounds, they are virtually identical. Not even Gran Turismo could get that right in those days! Big credit to Codemasters on that one.

i love this game, i played it loads ages ago now i started playing it again and its quality, i also like playing porsch challenge and formula 1 and rally cross 2, they are probably the best driving games on the ps1, better than xbox 360 or ps3 in my opinion, they are just such classics.

Ahhhhh, I remeber he nights, up playing this game till the early hours, or waiting untill the early hours to race against someone else in Japan/Oz/Italy or Kent!

i remember oulton park in the wet, being one of the hardest races to win during championship mode for me.

Also the peugeot 406 was one of the best looking cars in real life btcc, not so much in the game though.

TOCA 2 Touring Cars is one of my most heavily played games, back when it was released, I used to play it almost every day for a year, it's so addicting and has great replayability, I've been playing it a lot recently.

Even though it's missing the independent drivers and a safety car, I love how official the game is with the tracks, sponsors, etc and Tiff Needell's post race championship commentary really adds to the atmosphere.

A great way to relive the 1998 BTTC season.

Best Toca and race game ever. It's funny how this game is how old? and it still has THE best racing physics, damage, and fun factor. The racing is the best and the sound. RacePro is the new TOCA but still NOTHING touches this!

I had this game and I alway drove for Renault and Honda,I prefered this one too the first Tocca.and I much prefer real touring cars of ten years ago when Ford,Honda,Renault,Nissan,Volv­o,Vaxhaul,and Peugeot battled aginst each other,they had better looking cars then and the racing was very close,todays just worth boring with.

Yeah the driver's fist was a really nice small touch to the game, you often see the real-life touring car drivers doing it when they get furious.

Often when you're putting 110% in a race, and a car then makes contact spinning you off, you also feel like waving your fist

I agree, this is the diffinative racing game! So realistic, some races you finished breathless, having felt as though you had actually achieved something whilst never leaving your sitting room. No racing game since has come close, developers & produces would do well to "go back to basics" when releasing their latest titles. Toca 2 was both fun & accessible and was hard to master but not impossible even on expert mode,a good balance.

Yeah, this was a fine racing game.

I played a championship recently. I had to fight my ass off for every point.

Its still a great game now.. And of course. With Tiff Needel doing the voice over.. Its a sure winner.. :D

The AI is really aggressive, so you do fight for every place. Although unfortunately I think the team mate has the same opponent AI behaviour.

I have many incidents when they shunt you from behind, it's a shame as I would have liked them to behave like proper team mates. (Although in real life touring cars there are quite a few accidents between team mates).

In championship mode, I try very hard not to touch my team mate, as I'm also driving to help the constructors championship.
