  • Great Haul, one of the best I've seen on youtube... :-))

  • Hey! Have you ever tried intellectus 424 diet (search on google)? Ive heard some unbelivable things about it and my cousin lost a lot of weight with it.

  • Hi! Have you tried intellectus 424 diet (do a google search)? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my buddy lost a ton of weight with it.

  • hey hey! Have you tried intellectus 424 diet (do a google search)? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my mate lost a ton of weight with it.

  • Really nice video

  • You should get some more greens in there, like spinach and green beans. You can get mini green beens and eat them raw..they are actually really nice!

    And beans? like kidney/mung beans...

Soup is good too....hardly any calories!

I love americans by the way haha....i would love to shop in America!...

  • Thanks so much for sharing your groceries! You have inspired me to start shopping healthier and to actually PLAN what I'm going to purchase so I don't go and buy all junk food! =)

  • Money wise how would somthing like this cost? and do you have vids. for planning meals for a week?

  • Once I get back out on my own again, I will be going raw, too. I have had fruit leathers, too--soooooo good! :) Why still cow's milk; why not almond or rice milk? Rice milk tastes pretty good, even the unsweetened version.

Good vid. Loved the crochet bag :)

  • I'm finding it sooo hard to find hummus without vegetable oil in

  • Where I live, we have Macro organic/whole foods, but I have to drive about 30 - 40 min to get there

  • foods are not available? I usually cant get enough so i end up getting pesticide filled 'food'Or is it just that i cant find it because of where i shop?I recommend for fiber, Salba or chia. i could go on forever about it but you should just google it :)DO you use quinoa?Haha and just recently along with starting to go natural/organic/healthy i was thinking of doing vids like this and sharing recipes. It would be exciting since i love cooking :) i will now watch your newer vids.

  • Oh my goodness! i just started going al naturale recently and i live near seattle! I have been looking for places to find normal breads!!!! just natural no shit bread! where did you get yours?? I started going to a health place in everett and will soon make my way to whole foods and pcc. do you know if memberships make a impact of prices there by any chance? Another coincidence is im learning italian-strange! Umm i was wondering what you do for the winter when many organic, natural and local

  • If you are in US search for "Indian grocery locator"

  • Just found this! I know it's really old, but if you get this message, try using Stevia as a sweetener. All natural and sold at Whole Foods. I love it.

  • where do you shop? Is it Whole Foods? I don't have a Trader Joe's but there is Whole Foods.. and also since you are eating more unprocessed, would you recommend someone to just start off that way, instead of switching like you did?

  • I used to shop at Central Market -- which is owned by Whole Foods here in WA -- but now yes, I shop at Trader Joe's. In the video I went to CM/WF.

I recommend eating what you normally eat but looking for healthier alternatives at your health food store... and go from there. Once you start eating healthier, you usually will then want to branch our more :D

  • How about menu's for a week? I'd like to see a video about that.

  • Hiiiii.... Are you Middle Eastern? I am trying to start drinking tea more often. I love it on winter but in summer I hate the heat.

  • I am of Czech, Italian and Geman heritage :P

  • I love those fruit leathers but I can't buy them because I have no control with them I will eat like 5 not good. I always use stevia I stopped using aspartame a little over a year ago stevia is great.

  • HAhahaahh I can usually not eat more than one... so sweet!

That's so great that you quit aspartame.

  • do you think you can put ice into the teas and make them iced tea?

  • YES you can, no problem. But you need to steep the tea longer to make it stronger - it has to be stronger if it is iced :D

  • Have you tried Stevia for a sweetner, it is all natural no calorie sweetner and doesn't contain any of those nasty chemicals like aspertame that is in splenda and equal.

  • I've never tried it but I've heard lots of good things about it. I should go to a natural store and but it.

I hear it has a weird taste if you use too much, but just a little in tea or whatever sounds good :)

  • great video! I make the fruit leathers so that my kids don't eat a lot of sugary shit! I am trying to get my family to eat a lot less processed crap too, I make every meal from scratch & lucky for me, my boyfriend works at an organic store yay! :)

  • You MAKE fruit leathers?!? Or you make your kids eat them? I LOVE them :D:D

That's awesome that you're handling the health of your family so well :) And ROCK ON that he works at a health food store - that must make it easy and less expensive :D

  • lol, sorry, yes I make them, they're basic to make, they take a while to cook because you have to bake them slowly to dry out properly but you can do quite a few of them all at once, probably enough to last you quite a while! Most people add extra sugar to them, but I don't otherwise my 2 yr old will be bouncing off the walls!

It's fantastic Lee working in an organic store, he gets 15% off all food products and 33% off all vitamins, bath and body products and supplements! yay! :)

  • Oh, cool! I don't think they need extra sugar - the ones I buy have no sugar except what's in the fruit ;)

    Very cool! :D

  • They're really easy to make, my mother used to, too. (: PLUS, there's less [how about NONE! :D] packaging, so you're being an environmentalist as well

    You're inspiring me.<3

  • Yay! I will definitely make them myself someday.

    Thanks! :D

  • gah, fruit leather is the best. you just reminded me of it!

  • :D yay!

  • wonderful video of what you bought un-processed. I've gone from label reading to not..and now am trying to watch...

    Thank you...

  • Thank you - glad I inspired :)

  • i don't buy processed food. Its easier than people think

  • It is! :)

  • You sound like you're doing a good job with your fod, even if you're not all-out no preservatives :)

    You're welcome!

    Thank you :D

  • you are the most organized young lady cant wait to see what you are going to do with all that stuff. Didnt understand what that Italian stuff you were showing is is it yougurt?

  • Ah, no - it's like Nutella :)

    Thank you :D

  • fruit leather... interesting... Adding that to my foods I must try.

  • Yay! You should :D

  • Great video; I encourage you to try making split pea soup again. I am all about the bean and lentil soups!!

  • Thanks :) After making this video I thought to myself that I should really try again. I will :D

  • HAhahaa thank you. I just LOVE Italian :P AND - it's basically Nutella. Crema di Nocciole = Hazelnut cream.

    LOL, thanks :D

  • I just started watching your videos (haven't been through them all) but wanted to say hello from Olympia, WA! I had no idea you were from Seattle until this video (although I suspected from your last video and mentioning your microsoft friends.) I love the pacific northwest! It's so friendly to healthful eating!

  • Yay! Hello! :D I love it here too - lots of healthy eating and here in Seattle proper there are so many vegetarian and vegan restaurants, too. I'm neither, but I like eating at them :D I also love that there is so much bike-riding and hiking and outdoors-ey stuff :D

We could meet up some day! I drive down to Portland every once in a blue moon and I'll mention it next time I go - maybe I can stop in Olympia and we could have lunch :D

  • That would be fun! Drop me a note if you're going to be in town!

  • Rice? On the sushi? I got white unbleached rice :) Is that what you're asking? My favorite kind is tuna rolls or california rolls :P

The oil is Flax Seed Oil - it is kind of "buttery" and pretty flavorless. It gives you all your Omega-3 fats in 2 servings and loads you up with antioxidents and other good things :D I just put it in everything because it has little flavor - smoothies, pasta sauce, beans :)

I'll try that with the strawberries - but I don't really care what they look like! :P

  • my bf loves fruit leather lol. Are you worried about getting sick or feeling sick after eating something that has been processed after doing this for a while? I would be afraid I'd get really sick and my body would reject processed food. You're on the right track though..great ideas.

  • :D No, I'm not worries, per se. I do think that after a few months of this I'll think that processed things taste gross and will have no interest in eating them :D My dad has been eating like this since I was a baby and he can't stand chocolate... hmm. :P

  • How much did all that cost!?

  • This haul was $112, but I certainly don't spend that much every week! Some things I bought will last more than a week, many, more than two:

Milk, yogurt, cereal, hummus, instant coffee, husk powder, almond extract, flax seed oil, almonds, string cheese, granola, sugar (this will last months)... (~$50)

Usually at the beginning of the month I spend $100-120 on groceries, then the next week I spend maybe $40 buying more fresh fruits/veggies, then next $60, then $20. It all evens out in the end :D

  • Oh ok thats not bad at all! Great Haul! So,when can I come over for dinner??? lol

  • LOL - thanks :)

  • Great video....I loved it! I wish we had more Whole Food Stores here....no Whole Foods, no Trader Joe's only two very small local health Food Stores and they are SUPER SUPER expensive because there really isn't any competition....SAD and I am in a large Metro City....I don't really understand that....oh well, I will try to do better with what I have available! Thanks!

  • Crappy! I went to Central Market this time, but we also have Thriftway (Whole Foods), Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe's, and LOADS of smaller non-chain shops. I feel so lucky to have these stores here - the options are endless :D

If you really want to try this sort of thing, you could opt to buy everything that you CAN at a supermarket, and then go to the natural stores for the few things that you couldn't find natural at the regular store :)

  • and that was a lot of food. Perhaps my next shopping trip will be to go to Whole Foods. I love the chocolate chip idea. :)

  • Thanks :D The chocolate chips are so good, too :D What I love about buying in bulk in a whole foods place is that you can sample things. I sampled like 4 different kinds of chocolate, so I knew which one I wanted in the end :D This time I shopped at Central Market but there's Trader Joe's and a Whole Foods down the street from me as well, so next time I may mix it up and go somewhere else :D

  • Make sure to brush your teeth after those fruit leathers. Those are the worst for causing cavities because it's sticky and the sugars clings to your teeth and feed the cavity causing bacteria. Just a friendly reminder from your youtube dental assistant. :P My son gets sad because he is no longer allowed to eat them at school since he cannot brush after them. He is limited to eating them at home where he can brush right after.

  • HAHA OK I will :D

  • I probably shouldn't tell you about my shopping technique. :-P ....but I mostly go in there, and buy as many calories as I can as cheaply as possible ....while avoiding processed crap, and corn syrup.

mmm.... you got some good stuff!

  • LOL - that's cool :D You work really hard and probably burn like 5000 calories/day, which means that no matter what you eat you'll be trim. Its good that you try to avoid processed foods... I like to put lots of good things into my body and make it stronger and healthier :D

  • Ya... 5000 calories really isn't that much for me. When I was digging the road I ate more than 5000/day, and I still lost 20 lbs in a month.

  • LOL, exactly. I am like 1/4 as active with you, and that's WITH going to the gym.

  • Ya. You should hang out at the dome for a month. You wouldn't have to worry about calories at all. :-D

  • Hahahaa, yes, this is true.

I talked to Ellen today and she said she's see what she could do about getting me there a week earlier so I could stay at your place for a week. I was like... WHAT?! I didn't think that would even be an option. If that does happen, I'd be able to stay at your place from around the 20-26 of Oct... somewhere in there. Does that sound OK? I don't believe I'll be able to stay longer, but OMG what if I could?! Would that be OK?

  • Ya, that would be cool. I didn't think she'd be able to change the ticket that easily, either. ha ha. ....you are welcome to stay for a week, though. :-) ....if she can change it. I think she said something about fees last time she changed one.

  • Hmmm, we'll see, then! Thank you for opening your dome (home/dome, get it, ha ha?) to me in the event that I do come another week! I'm excited either way. Come to think of it, maybe it's good that I'm only seeing you for like two days... otherwise you might put me to work hauling logs or something...

  • Oh, c'mon! Thats the best part! I thought you loves carrying around bags of concrete, and cutting down trees. :-P

  • Oh, but of course I do...

    ?!

I think I would like it as a lifestyle, but jumping into it without doing it every day would KILL me. Maybe?

  • Ya.... who wants to live forever. :-P

    errr... dont' listen to me.

  • Pfft.

Actually... MEME! I'd love to have nanobots rebuild my body forever so I could live forever, and when that can't be sustained anymore (like in 100 years from when I'm 60?), hopefully they'll be ready to put robots together with human brains and then I can live forever as a robot :D

This is my grand life plan. We'll see how it works out.

  • Not me. 300,000 years and I'm done.

  • LOL ;D Well, I might be done at that point too. But I'll see how I feel when I get there. 302,008 might be a really boring year.

  • Ya... thats why I'm calling it quits at 299,975.

    :-)

  • What exactly does flax seed oil do for you?

    jw :)

  • Wikipedia says it best:

Flax seeds contain high levels of lignans and Omega-3 fatty acids. Lignans may benefit the heart, possess anti-cancer properties and studies performed on mice found reduced growth in specific types of tumors. Initial studies suggest that flaxseed taken in the diet may benefit individuals with certain types of breast and prostate cancers. Flax may also lessen the severity of diabetes by stabilizing blood-sugar levels.

It's just REALLY good for you :D

  • Love the sushi! What do you do with the parts you don't eat right away? freeze?

I also try to buy local if I can, there's a berry farm I go to in the summertime, about a 30 minute drive but I support family owned farms.

I'm liking what I'm seeing, the extracts I use are also organic. I'm curious about that spread because I like exotic things, is it some sort of cream? Thanks for sharing!!

  • I put the sushi in the fridge. It will stay fresh for a day or two and I will eat it for almost every meal until it runs out ;)

FRESH BERRIES! I pick blackberries :D

Ohhh, I should have clarified - it's like Nutella, except made with "special" hazelnuts that are apparently more refined and calmer in flavor than those that Nutella uses. I think they taste basically the exact same :P Crema di Nocciole = Hazelnut Cream :)
