What a lot of you don't understand is in the 80's, 70's and 60's record companies and tv stations wanted an artist to lip-synch their own material, even if they were quite capable of singing live, because they were selling records and wanted to keep the "performance" exactly the same as the record. Siouxsie absolutely hated having to lip-synch her own stuff at times, and she would deliberately go out of her way to make it look bad just for spite.
What do you mean? She did it all the time in the videos and she was great at it!I .I am sure Siouxsie would prefer to sing it live. The programs do this to the bands....They put a studio track over the band playing live.
Look, I dont know whats the deal here ,but it prob had to do with the production crew. Why you have to just put bad lypsynching comment just sounds like a dig.I have dealt with these synch issues in one of my com classes. They ask a band to go out live and dub a studio track in.Its a very difficult thing!
They cut off this REALLY beautiful ending/outtro thing, anyone else notice that? That part is also missing from an edit for radio, which is what I'm guessing is being used for this video's audio.
It was a stand-alone single in 1987. The first thing they did with new members Martin McCarrick and Jon Klein. It's sort of obscure because Siouxsie hated what the producer did with her vocal. It must have been something personal she had against Mike Thorne, because the song is absolutely gorgeous, vocals included, and deserves to be more known.
Great song..back in the 80's no one used to play live on Tv shows, so cut that lipsinc bullshit, we are talking about Siuxsie Sioux not modern pop crap like Ashley Simpson...
Bram Stocker never considered himself or Dracula "goth", but the book is a must read among goth people, the same happens with siouxsie, she is a goth icon although she hates labels...
Thank you. I had a 14 year old, tell me that Sioux always considered herself "punk" on the comments to "The Passenger". And I always thought that she hated labels.
Fuck their "other hits" this song stands all on its own...it's very SATB in the 80's...it's a great song, hit or miss and you have obviously missed it entirely, aschenputteel85! And its B-sides are on the B-sides collection too!
The Banshees quickly disowned this song and got disillusioned by the whole project (which wasn't theirs). This is why it doesn't appear on the Downside Up compilation. They went on to do their covers album instead of submitting more songs. Actually this isn't so bad is it?
What's the big deal about lipsyncing?.This song is nearly 20 years old and thats how things were on most UK music shows. Anyway, I'm glad she is because I haven't heard this record for years.
wow I was at the gig mentioned at the begining of the vid!!! I remember them playing this song too!!Superb..makes the hairs on my neck stand up! thanks m8
I have seen them live on many occasions for the last 25 years..they have been lypsincing for all of those Tv shows in Europe for a long time! Plus, this is the original studio recording that you are listening to...
totp might have some live stuff now but in the 80s it was all mimicing studio tracks. note there isn't an acoustic guitar onstage but you hear one all the way through....
Hermosa cancion, me hace recordar epocas de colegio ahora que tengo 28 años. Grande Siouxsie!
