In the shock of hearing a new sound, and the mistake of comparing it to dear nostalgia, many forget why they like Third Eye Blind. It takes some listening's to really get. That's why they're deep. That's why the third eye is blind...
man.. I must have seen a different concert than everyone here. I was surprised by how fuckin awesome the show was.. especially Slow Motion. Check that one out.
My HOME FUCKING TOWN!!! Go 3EB! They've always been awesome. I've liked them ever since I was about 6, so for more than 10 years! They're coming out with a new album, too. Can't WAIT! I haven't seen them live, but my mom has, and she was amazed! So anybody who's trying to diss them in any way, shape, or form, buy a fucking ticket next time, go to the show, and be prepared to hold your jaw up for the next few hours! LONG LIVE 3EB!

3eb was my favorite band for the longest time. Stephan sounds a lot better these days but I can't help wondering if they'd have more commercial success if they lost the grungy 90's guitars. Maybe they don't care about commercial success anymore but even so I think they'd sound way better if they found a new production/writing style that didn't rely so heavily on that grungy 90's sound.
I just saw them here at Virginia Tech a few nights ago and it was an awesome show. This isn't the best video, I agree that it's a little rough. But they definitely were f'n awesome when I saw them.
I have to say, after watching many vids of them live, I prefer the record. Sux. Maybe if WE actually seen em live itd be better, dont c the energy there, anyone agree?
They've been terrible live since the first time I saw a live show on TV many years ago. I've heard a lot of people say they didn't think the show was bad when they went, but when you watch how off-key Stephan is live, it's hard not to think they're pretty bad live. The albums are are all excellent though
I have seen a small handfull of bad vids of them on youtube. I think the worst was on USA Today or something, years and years ago. That was an out door concert, the air might have been cold, who knows. For a band that has been around as long as 3eb, you can expect a few bad shows from time to time, but they rock out most often.
@secondeye i share the same impression, but their albums... well, Out Of The Vein and the self-titled, are phenomenal. Just not a great live band... it happens.
@ambry88 Stephan gets away with not being a great singer by having a nice timbre and hes a brilliant lyricist and writes great vocal melodies, when i listen to them live i listen to the message and dont focus on teh vocals not always being spot on :)
I'm not going to argue about who wrote what lirics but Kevin was a great writer combined with stephen gave the band alot of energy. They also got 2 albums recorded in 3 years. Stephen has said he has trouble finding the right words for the lirics. It has been about five years since Out of Vein was recorded. I also think Tony will never be as good as Kevin at guitar but thats my opinion. I still cant wait for Ursa comes out, its been to long. Dont get me wrong I still like Tony and 3eb.
Arion was great in my eyes because he always got into the music (and started fights with Green Day). Tony is good but kevin wrote most of the lyrics when the band was in its prime. Ever since he left they haven't found their way back into the spot light. Stephen now says he has trouble writting all of his songs because he can't find lyrics. Still I can't wait for the new album.
Kevin didnt write any of the lyrics (i assume you are talking about guitar). Do you really think that stephan would sing lyrics that were written by kevin.
Kevin is credited as co-writing the vast majority of the first album... The bands best song, lyrically, is off of Blue though. Still think Deep Inside of You is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard. Might have to give Slow Motion a nod there in second or a tie for first too....
I am with you on Farther. Not a big fan favorite, but definitely one of mine. I don't know about 3EB being "one of the most popular," however. And that is part of what makes us love them.
Close my eyes and see a freak, think it's me and I'm afraid to speak....

Kevin is listed as 'co-writer' of the songs. Doesn't mean he wrote 'most of the lyrics' as you say.
If its the same as it is now (and previous records with Arion) Tony is listed as co-writer of a great deal of the songs on OOTV and Ursa.
