Thanks for all the videos you have posted. I've learned a lot about Mark thanks to you. Funny thing about learning about artists, I usually end up not liking them when I learn more about them, but I like Mark even more when I learn something new.
This is absolutely spotless viewing. D.S. were huge down here in Australia but sadly M.K. is virtually ignored by radio and the press, hence we don't see gems such as this. Thanks.
I've listened to Mark's music for 2 decades now, when Phil lays off the accordion and the vocals kick in, wow man. The unmistakable combination of Knopfler's voice and playing got me choked up. Absolutely unbelievable
Thanks for posting. I started out just wanting t o hear Mark's speaking voice, to compare it to his singing voice, but found this "interview" so interesting I listened to all 3 clips straight through.
I was filled with joy watching this. One of the best things on YouTube I've seen in ages. Thanks so much for taking the time to share this with all us hungry music lovers.
Great interview all in all. Mark Knopfler really seems like a normal guy not like the celebrities here in the states. He just sits with a friend in a pub with a pint. If I went professional with my guitars i'd be the same person I am now.
Definately one of the best (if not the best) interviews with MK I've ever seen. He's obviously way more comfortable when talking with a friend than with a journalist. Normally he looks at those interviewers like he's thinking "stop asking those same stupid questions again and again".
Thank you for posting this interview DogSwede1! I've been waiting for someone to post this on Youtube. It's such a joy to hear MK talk about his music and the stories behind the songs. This interview feels like a real conversation - two musicians who love the creative process of making music. I never heard of Phil Cunningham b/4 the "Get Lucky" CD, but he has a real rapport with MK. Thanks again DogSwede1!
Thankyou DogSwede for all the videos, I looked high and low for videos of Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler, its so nice to look and see Mark and the guys growing up if you will, you can see how aging brings about maturity, and the smiles on Marks' face in this is priceless, he looks as if to be saying, I finally feel at ease, and I see the pride he has in his music, he never forgets where or how he started. I give him a lot of credit, and thanks for his music and style.
In the two world wars the sound of the bag pipes meant tough times for the German enemy. My dad told me that in WW2 as soon as the enemy..both Italian and German heard the bag pipes things changed..the Italians immediately either ran or surrendered and the Germans began to shake in fear. God Bless the Scots.
@AlexKeith7 - ;),, The Dire Straits book aren't overflowing, but you always have "Dire Straits" by M. Oldfield which doesn't cover the band's complete history (as released '84), but it's really nice as it's authorized by the band.
Knopfler Is Grace Personfied In Music. Guitar, Voice, Lyrics All In Place And Wonderful Thanks BBC Scotland For Featuring This Chat Between Two Great Muscians . Get Lucky, Sailing To Philedelphia Highlights His Scottish Roots. Up In Pennsylvania,When I crossed The Mason Dixon Line, The Music Wafted Thru
As I was watching the whole interview, I had a big smile on my face. Two great guys and musicians having a good time together. Credit to the producers that they let the guys just "have a chat" instead of using an interviewer. I'm still smiling.

@SpiritLevelBubble - Exactly what I was thinking. MK seems to enjoy the moment so much, which isn't so common when he does these TV things.
