  • This guy writes for ZomboCom doesnt he?

  • Bullshit tibetan jargon

  • so simple and so powerful

  • Beautiful. Such sweet words, and put into practise can change the world.Thankyou so much for this.

  • Love it, can't help but smile :D

  • 34 seconds of blessings.... Love,Light and Peace :D

  • Thanks for upload. Great wisdom! Love, Light and Peace :D

  • like it, *but* it looks a little bit like a goodbye (sniff)...

  • who disliked being happy?

  • BS, say that to starving kids, women in forced prostitution, etc. Sick of this new age crap!

  • Great Video! It's quick & to the point.

  • Still not keen on dying, though.

  • So many worldly problems are created simply from a lack of sitting still, listening, and trying to understand.

  • i always watch this video when i'm feeling depressed.

  • @cannedkitty

Thank you ... I watch this video regulary too ... it has become my mantra ... the shortest and most profound summery of the whole of Buddha's Dharma that I know. If one can fully live the wisdom that is contained in these 30 seconds, one doesn't need to know anything else...

  • Thanks

  • i love you

  • Very true.

  • couldn't have said it better myself.

  • Don't worry. Be happy!

  • I like your style, bro.

  • It doesn't get any simpler and any more profound than that!

  • that's a nice picker-upper

  • good stuff. thanks monk duder.

  • Thank you, I love satire.

  • Thank you, sir. I'll be happy ;)

  • this may seem like a great idea however peoples feeling change on a daily basis according to their environment, their circumstance and chemical changes in the brain. I would love it if people were happy all the but feelings really have nothing to do with your life or whats true as they are very fickle.

  • I think this is a good message no matter what you people want to say about the technicalities. Everyone needs to chill out and just try and be positive in this world, otherwise we won't get anywhere..

  • he's a nice guy! i'm happy now :)

  • @StationaryTransient ...

... are you homeless, hungry, or in pain?

Are you a refugee who cannot return to your own country? ...

    be happy

  • No.

There are tremendous amounts of suffering in this world, and I'm supposed to ignore it because it doesn't effect me, and just "be happy"?

    Fuck that logic.

Humans are the only animal who think they are supposed to be happy. I don't try to control my emotions. That's silly talk.

  • you're not 'supposed to' ignore anything

you're also not 'supposed to' be happy

Be un-happy if you prefer that...

BE UNHAPPY (...if that makes you happy:)

I'm pretty sure Situ has seen, contemplated and dealt with more suffering than you have ... certainly than me

He has dedicated his life to ease the suffering of all sentient being ... and he's working on it every day...

(while we exchange opinions on the web)

And the first Noble Truth of Buddha is:

    "life is suffering"

  • "Be X" is a meaningless statement. I can't simply just be happy. I can't simply just be unhappy either. Attempting to will your emotions into being is silly. Your actions are a factor to how you end up, but even then you may unfortunately experience hardship. Being happy all the time is irrational.

And you're right. He almost certainly has dealt with more than myself, but so what? I respect his opinion, but I'm not going to take everything he says as gospel because he's "dealt with more".

  • @StationaryTransient

Why do you feel you need to put the world on your shoulders?

  • Okay. Be miserable then. What are you trying toprove?

I am happy because I help others as I help myself.

I choose to do this because happiness just feels better than unhappiness. It's healthier. But if it is more important to you to act all pseudointellectual and try to get our sympathy, then so be it.

Frown. Cry. Live a sad, waste of an existence. Some day you will look back and wonder why.

As for me, I'm going to be happy. :-)

  • you might have noticed that this channel is about sharing Buddhist wisdom. And Buddhists believe - quite like you said - that the world of personal experience depends on one's actions (sanskrit: karma). Buddhism also believes that the world of experience depends on the mind that is experiencing it.

According to Buddha a calm, peaceful mind is more likely to 'be happy' than a mind desturbed by ingnorance, anger and desire.

Buddhism teaches many techniques on how to train this mind of ours.

  • By remembering what he said, if you were in that situation, you could more easily remove yourself from it.

  • @StationaryTransient Once your mind devoloped this state of setences u wrote down here, U weren't happy at the time. After u done your writing and posted your point of view u still hold on to that upset caused by your thoughts. That's the point of this video. Don't let your thoughts countrol u, don't control your mind, but be conscious to your thoughts. Be Happy

  • I've said this already, but I'll say it again.

I let the reality of a situation govern my outlook. You say "don't control your mind" then follow it with how I should make it be. The thesis of my argument here is that you shouldn't try to will your emotions into being. The emotions you experience should be the result of an ebb and flow that comes naturally. Trying to be, and worse, expecting to be happy, all the time, is unhealthy and irrational.

  • @StationaryTransient You have it wrong, he isn't saying force yourself to be happy. Don't always look down on yourself or be negative, understand what you have or who you know and look at the positive aspect of your life.

  • @andrei644 No, I don't have it wrong. I have an opinion, and you have a wrong understanding of it.

I don't always look down on myself and I'm not always negative.

Just because I don't agree that you should irrationally try to, and worse, expect to be happy ALL THE TIME, doesn't mean I'm some depressed negative person.

For some reason everyone who has replied to me about my original comments can't seem to grasp that.

  • @StationaryTransient You're not happy are you?

  • @bob10023 Sometimes, I am. Other times, I'm not. Like all normal people, who don't try to force their emotions and simply live life doing what they will.

  • @StationaryTransient i'd assume that anyone who's homeless and hungry or in pain wouldn't be browsing youtube videos

  • @hallakristjansd And also, who are we to judge whether these people are happy or not? Maybe they are regardless of their current situation. Much like the entire point of the video.
