Having lived in the Fl.Keys for 9 & 1/2 years from 96 on I can dig this vid big time ! I,v seen Jimmy B. a few times and I,d rather see Eric sing this song this way any night or day ! Sure miss the Keys. Only left cause my boos got busted and my job went By By !
war had the real rythym, you're not going to get that deep soulful feeling to make the sound today.very few play with feeling.they know some chords and repeat riffs.this song with war and it took all of the band to make the song, not just a guitar wailing out a heavy riff.dont get me wrong i love them bust ass licks and leads but listen how each one played a part to create the piece.bongos, the flute, makes you picture the the dew falling.these guys (war) made thier music teachers proud
Sorry, i like Eric very, very much. But this version is stinky, filthy, rotten, dead Music. Where is the soul in this Band? He did a great job, but not to comparabel with his work with WAR.
I agree this is lame , no soul no nothing....ppl should check out the video response from magusmagic,,,that my friends..is what this song is supposed to sound like. I do like the singer , & song but just not this version.
The brilliant Dunbar plays with soul, gets super-funky, or shows incomparable chops when the number calls for it. It's why he was the truly great one among the Zappa drummers--not the subsequent army of music conservatory victims (are you listening, Vinnie?)
rushed, no feeling

Burdon metalled this song. He performs other War songs with soul, check out their reunion at the Royal Albert Hall
