@Asmor: Synthetic ropes definitely require different knots due to the reduced friction, a somerville bowline may be a better option for you. The knots presented here are designed for use with natural fibre ropes.
When I tighten the knot in the last step (pulling on the bight and the working end, it tightens the cuff as well. In addition, if I pull on the cuff, it'll tighten (like a noose would). I'm practicing with nylon rope; not sure if this is how the knot is "supposed" to behave, or if it's because the nylon doesn't have the same grip a natural fiber rope would. Any insight?
