yes but the song itself is country which is usually christian in nature. So for a christian family the mother might wonder if he is religious which is a sign to her of having good moral fiber. As it would be for any religion.

And of course a father is going to want to know how well set a man is and can provide for his daughter. To any average man he wants to know that.
