AS a CAPS fan im very happy about this game but the tv ratings were absolutely terrible! they were rocked by the fiesta bowl and the feista bowl was on cable and this was nationally televised. it won its ratings slot on network tv but only attracted an average audience of just over 4 million viewers! with HBO doing a pump up show and all that the Ratings showed this sport will never be mainstream in the United States! its CRAZY cuz i think the CAPS are the best show outside football hands down

AS a CAPS fan im very happy about this game but the tv ratings were absolutely terrible! they were rocked by the fiesta bowl and the feista bowl was on cable and this was nationally televised. it won its ratings slot on network tv but only attracted an average audience of just over 4 million viewers! with HBO doing a pump up show and all that the Ratings showed this sport will never be mainstream in the United States! its CRAZY cuz i think the CAPS are the best show outside football hands down

Honestly, I feel like the handshakes after the Winter Classic is just hype. Maybe Crosby is a classless guy like so many people love to imagine. I'm not sure, but hey it's a guy in the Eastern Conference. Clearly they're better than the West (<- sarcasm).
Honestly, it was nice to see both teams leave the ice like normal after the game. It's special because it's outdoors... but it's a regular season game nonetheless. I'm still not sure why Crosby takes all the blame for this, but I don't care.

You're supposed to shake hands after a play - off series (they didn't with the Red Wings) and after a winter classic game. That's one of the reasons some people call hockey a gentleman's sport for it's courteous protocols. Crosby's ego isn't allowing him to reach maturity. Crosby was indeed the 1st overall pick in the 2005 entry draft but someone who began watching hockey in 2008, like yourself, wouldn't know that in 2004-05 there was a lockout which resulted in a lottery for the 1st overall pick in the 2005 entry draft. Jordan Staal was the 2nd overall pick in 2006. "Pittsburg" was never the worst team 3 years in a row. Dumbass.
