My brother is the Barbarian, and I know for a fact that he never used steroids! My brother doesn't drink, doesn't do drugs, and he is a wonderful family man! My whole family from my Mom's side our huge, naturally. My sons are all over 6'ft 7" tall! My 14 year old son is 6'ft 7" and he is 258 pounds. My other son is 17 and he is 6'ft 9" tall 265pounds! Need I say more! Our family definitely shows our Polynesian side! Ofa atu Barbarian! If you see my brother now, he is still in great shape!
Warlord and Barbarian must not have been able to do a promo at ALL, I don't remember them EVER being allowed to talk in WWF, and apparently they weren't allowed to talk even here...
they where a great team but I never could get what barbarian was saying when he talked & I still can't I meet him 2 years ago & did not know what he was trying to to tell me
I saw The Barbarian in March 2005 in Greenwood, SC. He teamed up with Demolition Ax (Bill Eadie) and was managed by The Desparado. They defeated Buff Bagwell and The Shooter.
man don't like the six man tag titles they look stupid and a tag team is a team of 2 else it's a stable so this confuses me but I will just keep it at 2 title belts cuz these have been abandoned
No, this was Jim Crockett's old NWA Mid Atlantic from the mid to late 1980's. The Powers of Pain would later move to the WWF around 1989 - 90 to primarily job to Vince McMahon's Road Warrior clones, Demolition.
man that was the good days when wrestling was awsome you dont see wrestlers that big anymore just like the headbangersball back in the 80s it was awsome also lata all !!!!!!!!!!!!
I was at a gym in the Phila area when these two guys showed up to train. Late 80's era. You have no idea how imposing these two are in person. The TV simply does not do them justice. Nice guys as I recall, but kept to themselves. Major weight moved that day.
@SPACEACE76 my brother never took steroids, drugs, and he doesn't drink! so get your facts straight, and don't assume. Our family are all naturally tall and big, it is our polynesian side! Don't hate because you would probably have to take steroids to look like him! He worked hard for his physique, look up our ethnicity and then you would understand why we are naturally huge!
oh i know...i live in california...we have many of those "men".
however, i've been a fan of pro wrestling since i was a kid....one of the few females that followed it from the mid 80s to mid 90s...it's just pure crap now...i don't bother to watch.
I agree that wrestling is basically crap now, but I've seen a few improvements recently. Every now and then, I still see innovative moves in TNA. It also seems that WWE got the message because I've seen a few innovative moves three too. I believe wrestling will get good again because of the response to steroid deaths. I've noticed that wrestlers are getting smaller. I think smaller wrestlers are better wrestlers. They can do moves that many of the muscle-bond monsters can't.
I believe they should bring in more wrestlers from Japan like TNA is doing. The Japanese style of wrestling is faster-paced, and higher risk. I love to see moves that make you cringe and think to yourself, even though this is rehearsed, that had to hurt like hell. I have been watching wrestling since 1982. I started watching wrestling when I was five years old. I miss the Von Erichs, Freebirds, Mr. Wonderful,The Horsemen, The Roadwarriors, etc. This is when wrestling was great.
I was a HUGE wrestling fan in the 1980s & 1990s. But i haven't watched wrestling in over 5 years. The magic is gone. Nothing or no characters today grab me.
I concur. The problem is that wrestling back then was more about creating larger than life personalities and even some kind of mystique. Now its all about degenerative behavior. Even worse still, tag teams aren't even the same! Instead of two guys who really function as a single unit, its just two soloists thrown together for a limited time. Nothing against Vince, but WCW was the greatest to me!
@Starsky5000 When Vince chose to pull back the curtains and reveal "Oz" so to speak it killed wrestling for me. We all knew it was fake. But just like watching a magic show you don't want the Magician to break character. It ruins it. I think Vince was so obsessed with destroying the mystique of the Hulk Hogan character that at the time he was willing to do anything. He showed that Hogan's heroics were staged but in so doing he screwed wrestling. I laugh whenever Vince talks about tradition.

Your both wrong. They left JCP to go to WWF because of money, PERIOD. Vinny mac was offering huge money to get everyone away from JCP. Warriors won 80% of the matches because they were booked that way!
gbrinklow, you a technically the idiot for saying they were scared of matches, Vince contacted them after the bench press challenge dumbass, I am very best friends with Barb and we just talked bout that the other day, Barb and I own a business believe me I know alot more than u marks!
I thought the warlord was his best friend? Well time has told this story for us The road warriors were the best ever so take yours and barb business and good luck but they just didnt have it. I have found out that my comment was wrong about them leaving because they were scared but they would have been run into the ground anyways if they stayed.
Even though Warlord & Barbarian were similar to the Road Warriors (RIP Hawk), they still had their unique style. I love WWE, but I miss WCW, and NWA, both organisations should never be forgotten.
power of pain were originals, don't think they copied the road warriors. they have beaten the road warriors. that is why vince broke the powers of pain in singles to make space for the road warriors in the wwf. road warriors were afraid to fight a tag team that has beaten them before, so they made a deal with vince to come to wwf with the condition to separate powers of pain. besides the lod were aging already just like demolition. vince bring back powers of pain.
Sounds like you're just makin shit up and talking out of your ass to me. What were you, about 6 years old the time they wrestled. You don't know dick about any of this. Shut up and sit down.
the powers didn't need to be good at promos they had ivan & paul jones, two men good at mic work. at that time, the big men only had to brutalize and besides they were never in the ring for too long anyway.the barbarian had almost as much experience as the RWs and you could see him carrying warlord along. they would have been fine under crockett but they went to vince.nuff said
Yeah P.O.P. were mis-used, they were great faces. They had a way better finisher than Demolition(Warlord's running powerslam then Barbarian's diving headbutt). Even when the turned heel they droped their oppening theme. They were'nt that bad as singles superstars either.
I actually never knew they were the Powers of Pain outside of the WWF. I thought Vince created the Powers of Pain to be HIS Road Warriors. Thanks for enlightening me.
Same here.. man Vince messed up with these guys. They were over huge as fan favourites in the WWF, ready to take on and beat Demolition who ran roughsod over everyone in the WWF, then right when they start feuding with Demolition they turn heel to help Mr Fuji... LAME!
It was so lame, because even during their entrance for that match where they turned heel at the end, you could hear the crowd was going crazy for him. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
these guys were great as a tag-team...but in single competition, they really were terrible. You could kind of see why they were teamed up. And, they were terible in interviews and the acting gig of wrestling.
the powers NEVER got their props. this was another awesome concept that promoters phucked up. notice when they left crockett that was the blow that buckled NWA. then vince took arn & tully and that was the KO but it started with P.O.P. then of course vince phucked them up by not promoting them right.dam i hate vince
Thanks for the post. Have not been able to find much NWA era footage of the Powers of Pain, especially interviews because they would just interview Paul Jones and Ivan Koloff. Warlord is HUGE, especially when you take into account how he looks standing next to the Barbarian who is a big guy.

Yeah P.O.P. were mis-used, they were great faces.
