TCS, DSC, ABS, fly by wire, blah...blah...blah....Why not just make the fucking cars drive us? Thats what it boils down to. Sorry...I'd rather have the ability to manipulate a car than have some over engineered techno box going psycho and driving me off a cliff because the government mandated it for my "safety". Hey government, I can handle my vehicle without computers butting in. Jesus! Even car control is being regulated. Next thing you know we wont be able to swear or eat red meat. SHIT!!!
@DucknCoverin it does seem that it will get to the point you just get in your car and it will drive you there.but why not take a bus.? I feel that it make you pay for purchace and maintenance on what will ultimately be publick transportation. in a way.but I too wouild rather have control of the vehicle, I mean what if you get attacked buy a truck load of robots.?
@schmoo91568 I went to a hybred propaganda party at a dealer and did make note to the hi teck venders ,I will never drive a sreer buy wire car,but what can ya do.
if I had my choice id take a lexus over a bemer, but it has to meet my 500 or under criteria after all no matter what you drive your just looken out the windshield
oh and by the way even though i have little experience in programming.. as an engineer i can advise you that finding bugs are what engineers do most the time.. the reason why computers have glitches is because there are so many conditions that your OS can handle and when it does not know what the hell you are doing it can just BSOD.. computers as the one we use and the ones cars use i can say is different to the extent that the cars are much simpler programs... simple programs rarely mess up.
cars should be much simpler they are only cars.if you look up the T.S.B on just about any car made it goes on for pages.BMW is one of the most over engineered cars made . they all have way to many overlaping systems and moduals yaking at each other trying to reach the perfect driving exspearince and they still leak every fluid dont start get flats and wear out brakes.and are the worst investment on four wheels.
@STOPPUCKNOW I don't know, I love the BMW experience it is a very clean ride, Lexus makes the same feeling but more luxurious than it is racing like BMW... The problem with BMW is the maintenance will kill you, and the overall market value will drop like crazy once it is off the lot.. but i say its worth every cent because it is a keeper... I think we all need to know that we take risks driving everyday. it is our duty to inform ourselves on what to do in an emergency.
I agree with you 100%! Greed is the only word that can be used to describe their mentality on changing a once viable and proven system. I am one that cannot stand greed driven change for anything... if it isn't broken, DO NOT FIX IT! Because if you try to you will always end up screwing it up!
Interesting and good video. Of course, these days when something goes wrong with a car the average motorist (who once may have solved the problem themselves), or took the car to a mechanic at the local garage can no longer do that. The car has to be returnd to the manufacturer, probably at great expense to the motorist. CR
a lot of the on board computers have to be re flashed and the ability to do that is difficult and exspensive to say the least in a local shop.the manufactures are allways hidding and complicating things to get you to go to the flate rate hell of the dealer
Computers on wheels.... You ever have your computer freeze up and no matter what buttons you press nothing happens? You get a fatal error... What happens when you computer controlled car freezes up? Yip fatal error.lol
a totaly mecanical diesel would keep runnin if it was emp ed.and diesel fuel is easy to store unlike gasoline that turns to crap rapidly. your young dont be afraid to screw with things worst case you break it ,but youll definitly learn sonthing
Yep. I have seen steering by wire too. It is a technology that does not belong on any vehicle. I have never ever seen a stuck throttle. It was just a system that always worked. Great Video.

I dont know too much about the mechanics of cars ...If I did I'd buy an old 1940/50 diesel truck . work on it myself .
all that computerized crap just makes stuff more complicated and less accessible to the common folks ..screw it
