Project car magazine converted their 240SX to manual for about $1600 in used parts. Made a pretty good drift car.

If you can get hook ups from local junk yards and do it with your friends along with a case of beer, shouldn't be much.

it is sorta hard to do and very COSTLY. theres a lot to do in switching from auto to manual in this model civic-- ONE WOULD BE BETTER OFF AND SAVE TON OF MONEY TO JUST SELL IT AND BUY ONE WITH MANUAL ALREADY IN IT. it wouldnt be worth the money. I was going to have mine swapped out but it was really fucking expensive from like everyone that quoted me. it was cheaper for me to find one already in made in manual

For the rest of us that do our own work its really not that bad...everything all said and done with a lightweight flywheel, aftermarket clutch and pressure plate your looking at about $800. If your auto tranny is in good conidition you can sell it for around $400 - 500. So when you think about it your basically not losing any money except on the aftermarket parts which will give you more performance anyway. Not to mention a manual transmission has to much more potential when running higher hp.

Actually, the automatic tranny has more potential for holding hp. That's why drag racers always do automatics; they hold more hp.

However, automatics are less efficient.

Yeah for parts you also need the clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, clutch lines, new driveshaft, and a boot.

There's nothing wrong with auto....but I am planning a 5 speed swap as well. It's a 92 eg 4 door with a pretty much stock ,(ture cold air intake, catless with stock piping, Flo-Pro baffle pack resonator and a fart can muffler buddy gave to me and it pretty much sounds exaclty the same as this...my intake is a little louder though, but I love the sound. It's not raspy or has loud pops and bangs.....deep smooth sound.

For the comments about the "Manuals will take Autos any day.." I don't think so. A lot of drag racers are starting to use Automatics.. because automatics are showing they are better for shifting.. and I've smoked people in Civics with Manuals in an Auto 3000lb car. Then again, a stock civic and a 200hp Monte Carlo SS is pretty un fair. lol :)
