  • number 10, Dennis Taylor, is my dad. too bad he lost.

  • @crowdedsubwaystation your Dad (Dennis) I didnt know he was in the 2nd world tournament? He and Shihan were both students of Soshu

  • I currently study under Shihan Fujiwara in Cromwell,Ct.,and contrary to what I am reading,Shihan is all about perfection of form.At white belt,Shihan stood in front of me and corrected my mistakes by example and by physically placing me where I should be.Shihan sweats with us,teaches by participation, and I feel is infinitely patient with our lower ranks. As uchi dechi to Mas Oyama,I have to believe Shihan's approach is very pure, and it is an honor to be trained by him.Thank you Shihan Fujiwara.

  • PONDANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Unbelievable, no wasted movements at all. Just few well aimed, tactical kicks and strikes with maximum efficiency.

  • who was the guy he was fighting at the start he looked like he was hopping on one foot

  • Shihan Fujiwara one of the best technicians.

  • Not only that, punching to the face will make the mat a bloody mess. The original (Mas) Oyama Dojo had full contact including blows to the face. Every time Mas Oyama had one of his fighting marathons, most of his students would have to visit the hospital because of blows to the face. In addition, with today's knowledge of blood borne pathogens, people are more leery of bloody messes. I hope Kyokushinkan can find a way to use face strikes because in a real fight there will be. OSU!

  • You mean the bones in the face would shatter :D

  • KYokushin is the best martial arts period! OSU!!!

  • the bones in the face would cut the hands?will i dont know about that. i do know you may die if u get a hard punch to your head from a top karateka

  • or the bones in the face would brake....seen it once, not nice

  • will its becaues they dont have wigth class. but in shotokan u can punch to the head but they were gloves n they have wigth class so it even out.still i like kyokushin.caues it tri to be must real

i mean evn in tai boxing u have wigthclass

    an they wear gloves.

  • i would love to know who are, intro mix , since i have train with shihan fujiwara since 91 and was a live in student four 5 years please feel free to contact me. osu

  • You mean Intromix yea I know him can get him to contact you

  • You have to remember tahat this movie had been done long time ago. Now european kyokushin is on much better level than it's shown on this movie. Now kyokushin kan is the organisation whitch try to put back the Oyama's style of fighting with full contact and head punching. I hope thal it'll develope. OSU!!!

  • its such a shame, its like the organizations don't relize or don't care how much we've fallen. back in the day Kyokushin was the most feared stand up art in the world, surpassing even Muay Thai. now there aren't many things that Kyokushin has over Muay Thai. we really need to all go back to are roots, and bring some respect back to this Fighting style of ours. this is not the fighting style that Sosai Oyama envisioned. being the Strongest Karate isn't enough. we have to be the smartest too.

  • Actually Shihan Fujiwara told us that we developed part of Kyokushin FROM Muay Thai. When Sosai Mas Oyama sent his Karateka to fight them, they got destroyed, WHY? Kyokushin didn't have the gedan mawashi geri (low leg kicks) so we developed alot from Musay Thai (among other styles) after all, KyokushinKai IS a bunch of different styles including Okinawan and Shotokan, add some Brazilian grappling and you have an ultimate fighter (I believe) After living as an Uchi Dechi to Shihan Fujiwara, OSU

  • not quite true mas oyama originaly learned martial arts in korea(i read it was taekyon bu t not quite sure) then whent to china to learn kenpo(simplified gonfu) the father of karate and muay thai then when to japan to learn karate from funkakoshi(in all non sport arts of the previously stated had grappling in them)and they all have low kicks and kness...if you take time to learn the arts you'll find they all have great depth..(as long as you dont look at the sport side it)

  • ? No.He learned o martial art in korea. He had a few lesson while visiting a relative a few months at about 8-9 years old (and that was in manchuria according to him), but nothing in korea. never taekyon. at 14 he went to japan and studied shotokan under funakoshi, and later goju ryu. As a accomplished martial artist he also trained judo & aikijutsu. during his later travels he also had contact with kenpo (taikiken/yiquan through Kenichi Sawai) and some very minor contacts with muay thai.

  • @intromix Sihan was my sensi

  • @Angel7black Thank God. Spar smart, be strong.

  • Osu!

Sensei Fujiwara. I was at this tournament in Fairfield. I was 13 yrs old and still a white belt. Had the privilege of sparring and learning from both Sensei Fujiwara and Taylor over the years. Tough guys. Very good. Have not seen them in 20 yrs. Much respect and the best to them

  • Want to know who is TEMMY?! Try asking me! he's a great karatista..... he has videos and they are quite amazing... hehe see 4 yourself... search 4 kyokushin philippines or daidai mancol!HAHHAAHAHAHA!!!LOL! LMFAO!

  • My Sensei was taught by Sensi Fujiwara, he trains us to fight like this, with form and technique, not just flailing wildly around untill the other guy falls.

  • If you don't mind me asking, Who is your Sensei??

  • I have honestly never seen Kyokushin Karatekas fight with form until I saw this. Now, they just punch and kick each other until one person crumbles

  • True, Shihan Fujiwara taught us to fight with the same form he used, impossible, because when we fought knockdown tournaments, like you said, we just try to kick, knee, and punch down our opponent down/out and seem to ignore the form. Shihan, however, trained different in Japan, in a way where he said that if he were to train us Americans in the same way, they would shut the schhol down the first day (scary)!! This was his prime from late 20's to mid 30's and he is still teaching today OSU

  • Osu!

The spirit of Kyokushin training. When I trained in the early 80's I took it we were training the traditional way. Never been to Japan. Tough enough though. I gained a lot. Would not have it any other way. Got away with some calcium deposits but no permanent injuries.

  • Does you're dojo have a website? The link above doesn't work

  • GOOD MAN!

  • God, they didn't mess about here.

  • oh my god!!! old school Kyokushin! back in the day when 95% of the organization didn't fight like shit! it's pretty sad far we've fallen. with the whole not blocking, the leaning forward(so it's easier to get thrown in a real fight) and just standing there punching and kicking till somebody finally gets knocked out, the hole standing completely faced forward so it's way easier to get kick in the nuts in a real fight,oh and did I mention the no blocking? kyokushin has become 100% off., 0% Def.

  • not everyone... I think there are 2 ways of fighting nowadays in kyokushin, the stright forward style and the teisabaky (avoid with footwok)style.

I've seen the 1st one mostly in russian fighters and the second in some japan fghters. But I agree70 to 80% IS stright forward style....

  • I was trained in the basics but never got up to those more "advanced" techniques. I would make that part of the basics and start practicing right from white belt. Watch how they fight and train to emulate that right from the beginning. You will never last just duking it out toe to toe with someone as fast as Sensei Fujiwara was or as big and strong as Dennis Taylor. I fought both of them so I know. It made me tougher mentally but I wish I could go back and change my approach. OSU!

  • Way to go Shihan!!!

Of the three schools I've attended, he's easily the best teacher I've had.

    Osu

    ~Molly

  • He was the ONLY martial arts teacher I've ever had, and started training under him 15 years ago and would NEVER train under anyone else! OSU

  • Osu, this is angelo, who posted this? Awesome, shihan fujiwara is amazing

  • Osu Angelo, this is Chris, I was uchi deschi along with Scott and Gerson back in 1996.

  • where is Shihan Fujiwara now?

  • He is at Kyokushin Headquarters in Cromwell, CT

  • Thanks! Arigato! Osu!

  • Sure Buddy n_n is good to help ppl from others styls of Kyokushin, im from ShinKyokushin which the president is Kenji Midori :D . Laters. l answer ur youtube e-mail from here cos is given to me an error when i try to send u an answer

  • Very nice... true kenka karateka fighter a big Osu To him.

  • OSU! Shihan Fujiwara, one of the best Kyokushin teachers in the world!!! He will always be my true original teacher, both in fighting and in life.

  • Wow! He is good! to stand toe-to-toe with a bigger guy and still come out on top, thats freakin hardcore. I should learn from what I just wacthed and stop retreating so much and just stand my ground more often.

  • a great fighter !

  • He is a great teacher as well, He's about 55 years of age and I am 35, 5'10, 235 lbs and he will still DESTROY me!!!!!
