@dxproductions100 My dell dimension 3700 only has a 75gb tiny hard drive ( good thing for my 1tb external) , 3.5 gb ram (max), intel pentium 4, and windows 7 enterprise. Runs slow. It also overheats, but I think its a heatsink problem which I am going to check out.

@dxproductions100 I don't think for actual gaming that a extreme i7 would make a diff. I mean people would say that what im saying is bull shit but the only people that would want a extreme i7 are People that only care about there bench mark scores... all im saying is that with the normal i7's score and price you can't get a better cpu for the price... i would say unless your going to be making video games and or do other super heavy tasks like hosting a server you wont need it.

@SuperRiguy lol, im not rich like you man, im not spending 1500$ for a 6 core.. my amd does really well, and ill admit my ASUS laptop is a i7 mobile, but its a gamer machine. Intel is for office work man, im sure a lot of people get i7's to game, but i am just not spending that kind of cash for a 6 core ( intels are over $1000). my AMD does well for everything i do, oh and to OC a i7, you have to get a EXTREME... (not worth it, its just a name), my 1090t is a black edition, Very good OCer..

And still getting bang for your buck, and performance, OC that bitch to way over 4ghz with a good board/ram/cooler combo, and you got the same performance. Hence AMD black edition :) (no locked multipler), to do that with intel, you have to buy a EXTREME and spend 600$ more. no thanks, ill stick with AMD and OC...

@SuperRiguy my Hd 5870 in my ASUS can run BF3 at high... and it depends on your resolution. my laptop is 1600x900 res, and everything plays smoothly ( this is one HD 5870, btw ). my PC at home (460 GTX) plays it at the same level, (1920x1080 res), the higher the res, the better card u have to have. Ultra settings require a bit better card... Shit i know where i can get a 6870 HD radeon card pci-e on CL for $125.... :)

BF3 must lag a lot with tht card on high or max.

Even the GTX 560 and 570 maxes that game without some lags.

@andiders 560 and 570 are newer gen cards, the 5870 is gen or 2 behind..high settings is perfect for me to play on..im not shelling out 4000$ to get an alienware to play a game on max..

Yes in games, the i7 quad-core will out do the AMD octa-core. No doubt about it. But running servers, and doing hardcore 3D-rendering and stuff like that, the AMD octa-core beats the i7 quad core. AMD Bulldozer is a work horse, not an entertainer like Intel i7.

@jacko622 Those Pentium 4's never die. My seven year old computer fried after a PSU catastrophic failure. Everything in the computer was destroyed, except the processor. I still use my 2.8Ghz and my 3.6Ghz, those things are tanks.
