there was a huge bnsf derailment by my dads a couple months ago that was one of the worst they have had as far as non fatality...158 cars piled up and one car was literally ripped in half at the middle

I am amazed the the sheer mass that a big train carries. They are huge. But you can still pull out in front of one. A 50 car train has over 200 brakes on it. Surely with all that they can stop quickly.
