I see NO, prior enlisted with Fleet Aviation experience.
I see no cross over candidates that have been in COMBAT.
What I see is over educated jerks, ossifer want-to-bes, the kind of jackasses that will sit on a bridge in broad daylight and not notice that an approaching ship's boat that is supposedly going to take off refuse is PACKED full of 2 metric tons of explosives.
This class based over-educated officer selection process, MUST be brought to an end.
I do think prior enlisted should have the advantage over civilians. Mustang officers are typically much more respected then a college grad fresh out of training. However, I DO think there are certain skills civilians can bring to the table. For example, an applicant with 100+ hours of flying experience, etc.
@4x4jeepX The civilian-veteran to OCS interview process consists of 2 questions.
Are you Ivy League? IF you say no to that question then 99% of what little chance you had just flew out the door. The second question is, was your degree concentration X, where X is very rare & pointless. End of interview.
This is classist discrimination. Some ROTC jackass is going to go out and get a bunch of young sailors killed, but that is *exactly* what War Criminal Kissinger wants, dead GIs.
I'm certainly not Ivy league. And neither was my brother (who was selected for OCS). He graduated from college with a 3.0 GPA. He stood out because he worked in D.C. for a couple years after college and had great recommendations, along with volunteering for veterans. You complain about classist discrimination, then call ROTC jackasses? The program helps those financially struggling (the discriminated class?) to further education and provide an officer slot...
@4x4jeepX The military is not supposed to be a welfare-to-work program. It is supposed to be a professional force for warriors, i.e. people that know what they are doing out there in the Real World.
I've run into 1 too many HORRIBLE officers that are nothing but bureaucrats in a uniform. America is FAR too corrupt of a country now, to take inexperienced dollar mongers and give them command of anything.
