I remember this as I had it as a child. I'm sure it's up in the attic as I still have most everything I ever got through the years. BTW...The "tone" in the recording is a signal to turn the page.
Thank you thank you thank you for uploading this! My brothers and I used to listen to this every Halloween before going Trick-or-Treating until our record player broke. Then we lost the record itself in a move. It's so wonderful to hear it again after so many years :)
@Ander0072originalv2 The original story had it that some suspected Ichabod had been killed, but others said he went back to Connecticut, married a rich widow and became a lawyer...too bad Washington Irving never wrote a sequel, that would've been interesting to see which direction he'd take.
Thank you for posting this!!!!!! I had this exact book and record set that my parents had bought for me at the school book fair. I remember the background music and I played that thing at least once every day after school. What great memories of a very happy time in my life!!!!!!!

Hello, everyone! I was the one who originally donated the audio here.I have located an original book and can scan the pages if there is enough interest.
My Mom bought this for me at a school book fair in 1972. I was 8 and absolutely loved listening to this over and over. Thanks for posting , some memories are truly priceless.
if i was being chased by the headless horseman my horse would be running at like 50 miles an hour in panic and would reach the gate and the horseman would return to the tree of the dead where he slept during the day
I remember turning the pages when you heard the "beep." I loved the song so much I bought the 1964 version on eBay, on 45. You can't reason with a HeaaaaaadlesssssMannnn!
diid it bothered anyone that he wanted to marry one of his impressionable students?

so the moocher was murdered? A bit extreme, but it makes good use of the story.

@TheBookWorm1718 the book also hints very VERY strongly that the horseman was really Brom Bones.

It would be great to be able to see the other illustrations from the pages of this book; are they available?
