  • Frank was a limited fighter but he did England proud! I don't think he had a glass jaw like many people claim. Was he a great boxer? absolutely not, but he was no pushover either. He definitely lacked the killer instinct, i think the man was too nice. Compared to a Tyson who wanted to "eat" Lennox children. Tyson was messed in the head, Bruno was a true gentleman. Bruno is a true British hero!

  • @MBlank77

He was too upright, lumbering and static, that's why he was caught here. His stamina was also suspect, but he was a trier and lovable moron.

  • Bruno was not a bum,

he just lacked stamina because of all those muscles he had,

but he gave everybody a tough fight,

Tyson was the only one to beat him easy in there rematch

  • Frank was no boxer he was too bulky and stood too tall and staight the only way he was popular is because the British public back losers, on One of the rounds Witherspoon catches Bruno with a soft body shot and the crowd rise, when he fought Joe Bugner he had a bus pass and Chuck Gardner in Cannes who didn't have a license to box he got stopped in the 1st with a soft jab, Witherspoon was no great fighter but was a good journey man who had been around for a long tim & had fought good fighters

  • @578Leo Bit harsh of a comment, but i can see where your coming from, give the guy a bit of credit though, he was a tough SOB

  • @578Leo

when you've won the world heavyweight title, we'll listen to your claim that Bruno was no boxer.

  • It's the 25th anniversary on the 19th july and Tim willn be marking the night @ The saucy kettle in surbiton England.

  • @kozobed Ah good to know, will Bruno be there too?

  • @MITOGEN Sorry didn't reply sooner! He was not there declined the invite! But they are haveing another charity night in the The kettle, with a fund raiser and Tim Witherspoon will be there again on the night raising money for the charity DEBRA also there will be about 6 ex world champion boxers ther including Ritchie Woodhall... Checkout the The Saucy Kettles facebook or website for pics etc

  • @kozobed Ah ok cheers.

  • @angels 77100 at last someone who talks sense .bruno was never a fighter almost all his wins were against hand picked punchbags he was like a robot that had been plugged in then when he fought anyone half decent he got beat .

  • This is what the heavyweight division is missing now.

  • I'm a boxing fan and have always loved the sport. But watching British boxers like Frank Bruno is just painfully tedious. That guy was never a boxer, and after getting over the shock off hearing him attempting to speak during one interview I sometimes wonder how he ever learned how to walk and feed, and put on his own clothes. He has the reflexes of a pensioner smoking weed.

  • @angels77100 you read my mind !!

  • @angels77100

Thats's why your comments shouldn't be taken seriously then. Frank was a very great boxer who got stuck in and certainly held his own in this fight, his first fight against Tyson and also Lennox. It's always easy for crowd commentators to take the piss out of boxers in a sport that they only watch and have never trained in. If you had ever got in the ring yourself, you would have not have been so disrespectful to such a good warrior.

  • @peehawkpennell Lol, how was he a great boxer? Even his own manager said he lacked that killer instinct. He may have been a great guy, a big softy. But he hardly had the credentials to be a great boxer did he?

  • Wow, what a fight! Both guys could really bang. I hope both men are doing well. I've never met either one, but from watching many of their interviews, one could tell both were really good, genuine people--like most boxers. The few rotten ones give boxing a bad name.

  • what a great fight by both men. thats how boxing should be, i met tim in my local pub the other night and i gotta say what a bloody decent guy.

  • im 10 what is potsmoking?

  • What a shamr Frank. He was doing so good. Met Frank in 2008...

  • @IkeDyson:

Frank didn't have any defense. He was either hitting or being hit.

  • @tw69hands2 I dont think his defence qwas that bad. he was just brought up knocking down sub standard fighters and struggled against anyone who could punch and move.

  • @IkeDyson:

Bruno had no defense. He either hit or got hit.

  • I forgot how good this fight was. Whats happened to heavyweight boxing these days?

  • Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunooooooooooooooooooooooo. lol He wasnt so bad. Spoon was a good fighter.

  • Thanks for posting this. I've been waiting years to see this again.

  • wow bruno messed lol stl two great fighters

  • too much muscle = too slow

having plenty of muscle and losing it = not the same fighter.

  • Thanks for posting, would love to see the bonecrusher bruno fight too if anyone has it.

  • You know... the knockdown is legit. But then Tim hits him several times when he is down, and this makes sure that he has no chance to recover. And that's why a lot of guys who do that are DQ'd. Ask Roy Jones about that. He got DQ'd and lost his title for doing that. His case was a bit more flagrant, but Tim could have been DQ'd for this.

  • @bigdatut havent seen this yet, but how bout abraham a few wks ago?

  • @bigdatut i just saw the end, think tim had him ktfout already, sure there some chance that bruno gets up but that was a legitimate KO and yes he should be given a penalty or something for the couple late hits, but u cant really DQ him since he already accomplished the ko cleanly...but yes it was dirty, tim was frustrated at brunos consistent rabbits

  • Always too stiff Bruno, not relaxed enough, too much tension in the upper body, you could actually see it.Too muscular too..

  • What were Witherspoon's shortcomings?

  • ...lazyness, apathy, lack of discipline and feuding with Don King.

Witherspoon must regret throwing away the fight with James Smith in 1986. He would have been fighting Tyson for the WBA/WBC titles in March 1987. I'd have given him a definite shot at winning if he'd got his act together.

  • He seems pretty decent. I was looking for the Smith-Witherspoon fight here but I couldn't find it.

  • It's one of my other videos on here. :)

  • Cool! Thanks!

  • JoshLucas5

It is on here and I've seen it recently, keep looking!

Witherspoon looked like he had no interest in fighting that night and foolishly threw away the chance of anymore big fights.

  • I'm sure i remember a different camera angle for the build up to the KO. Anyone remember?

  • Rip Reg Gutteridge. my favorit boxing commentator

  • I forgot that Bruno stunned the Spoon with a good left hook in round 11 but he did not go hell for leather as maybe he should have done and as Gutteridge was saying he should.

  • Bruno had such obvious limitations!

  • Yeah, like a glass jaw!!

  • Comment removed

  • Yup, should have got the decision against Holmes and became champion then ...

  • I'm not sure about Witherspoon being dominant. He was'nt that good. He was struggling against Frank and Frank was'nt the best of fighters. He fought a good fight against Holmes, but that was about it. Not a great fighter in my book.

  • RIP...Reg Gutteridge, the man was like a favourite uncle. I have such happy memories of him and his commentary over the years in this brilliant sport.

  • Thanks for those comments on a guy that has recently died. I don't share your opinion and I've always seen boxing as a sport for the masses. Reg was an everyday guy and the last thing I'd do is call him boring.

  • @Panthera0nca absoloute gentleman like jim watt and ian darke.
