i just used some sand paper on the side of my xbox and it seemed to work just fine, then i baked it on under a heat lamp, im just saying there is an alternitave to primering, both are equaly easy but i had an elite so it already had that primer finish to it the sand paper just helps DO NOT PUSH HARD ON THE SAND PAPER!!! otherwise you will end up with big cuts in the side of the case, just light stokes across it, if you need any help email me at cbayles_75@hotmail.com i would gladly help you

I sprayed with silver enamel spray paint and held it the whole time and i threw on some laquer and it turned out great. I sprayed about 2 or 3 times, let it dry, then sprayed again every 15 minutes and let it air dry for about 10 hours overnight and it was glass smooth. I would say I put about 24 coats on it give or take lol. 3 times it was sprayed, 15 minutes later spray again, repeat about 6 times.... Turned out good and smooth though...

Yes, when you disassemble your Xbox 360, you have to break a factory seal and if you break it they won't fix it for you because A you could either flashed your Xbox or mod in some separate way.

Well just like any other paints especially spray paint there are fumes but if you do it in the basement or in a garage with the door open you wont be bothered by them as much.

I have to paint outside and no matter what little particles keep dropping onto the case, and then stick to the surface. If I pick them off, it leaves a mark. Any suggestions? (note: This is not because i didn't clean the surface, it's from the air.)

yes most definately but this almost seems pointless unless your a little scared of opening it because if you send it to microsoft they may just be like oh well he has a painted case so he must have tampered with the insides but i have done that on one of my friends cases and the xbox still runs fine.

When you say sand grit, do you mean sand paper it? Also do you know how to install plexiglass to the case?

Yes we maean sand paper and i would use 300+ sandpaper and wet and dry sand the surface sometimes 120 is a bit coarse. And yes we do knnow how to install plexiglass in our other cases we simply just bough the plexiglass and glued it behind the window using super glue and hot glue.

The answer to this question is yes all paint chips but so does paint on your house paint on your car. Due to the fact that your xbox does not usually get that much wear on the sides of your case it should last forever if your worried about it you can apply a clear coat at the end. If you throw your xbox around and are constantly rubbing it on the ground then the paint may chip and peel.

yeaa. it doesnt... weve painted several xbox's now and never have had any proble, if you disassemble the entire thing (which means you wont be getting paint on the actual xbox/motherboard) then theres no way exterior paint can hurt the internal functioning at all

hey nice cover anyway i painted mine using white spray paint then used red stripes will it catch fire when i put it all together and play it for a while will the paint ignite when the 360 gets hot? and the metal plate in one of the covers if paint gets on that will it catch fire when the 360 is in use ?

umm not that i know of... ha if that would happen id be shocked cuz ive never even heard of that, as long as the fans are functioning and you have your xbox in an area where it can get proper ventilation you shouldnt have to worry about that

I'd recommend waiting a while or two, (hour at minimum), let it dry, put a book or something under your 360 to let it ventilate properly, and there should be no issue, at least to my knowledge. All I can say is do your best not to get anything on anything that you had no intentions of putting on.

well only one of the sides of the case is connected to the metal housing and yes we did remove that to create the window all you have to do is pull and the little plastic connections that hold it together will pull right off.

okay, so i painted my case all black with the rust-o-leum thing for plastic and it turned out pretty good except that if I swipe my finger or touch it with the top of my fingernails, it just scratches and the scratch doesnt go away...

what do you recommend because you guys have a lot of experience in this but its my first time.

first thing is sand it down really well, get off as much as you can.

after that you can basically paint like we need, try very light multiple coats...sand in between coats.

maybe try using a clear enamel as a final coat, this should provide better protection for the paint and it will make it more durable... it will also add a little shine
